I'm still in my process of selecting gear to buy...
only got a boombox config right now...
Maybe I would listen to something before bed...except that my remote ran out of batteries and I don't have to get up to turn off the thing

In actuality, I listen to a portion of a CD called SHOOT 'EM UPS. It is a disc with music from Republic Pictures B pictures and serials. I listen to selections that I have identified from films they made in 1937 and 1938. The primary composer was William Lava. I may also program my CD to player to play portions of the BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN which portions were used in some Universal serials of the late 30s and early 40s but in particular the FLASH GORDON serials of that time. There is one particular piece in BRIDE that is my favorite all time symphonic recording for the last 50 of my 57 years. I listen to this music using a Pioneer CLD-M90 Multi CD/Single LD player to a JVC 718 DPL receiver in DPL 3 Logic mode with two KLH 900B three way loudspeakers and a Garrard D"Appolito designed stereo speaker that I use for a center channel.

Here in the NYC metro area there's mucho choices. Sometimes it's the classical sounds of WQXR, the offbeat sounds of WNYC's "New Sounds" or whatever is on WGBO's jazz station. ...interesting that two of these three are NPR stations.
