We've not even finished 4 years of the 2000s, their mistake is in thinking there have been 100 bands that have had any significant impact on rock music. That's a bit over 25 new bands pre year. Does anyone really think there are an average of 25 new bands each year that are of any importance?

Then, they mention another 70 bands. So, we've got over 40 new important rock bands a year in the past four years?

    No way.

I got as far down as #10, and found that between alternate bouts of hysterical laughter and wretching up my lunch, I could not continue reading the rest.

Someone needs to tell mr. listmaker that Neutral Milk Hotel hasn't made an album since the twentieth century.

Lots o' crap on that list but quite a few good ones too, although most of the good bands there had their best days in the 90s.

BTW, isn't Hatebreed a white supremacist propaganda machine?

No, they just suck. Think Earth Crisis or Madball, but even worse. The rest of that list had me tasting vomit as well.

BTW Audiobill, Songs: Ohia's Magnolia Electric Co. is a great listen. Like Neil Young & Crazy Horse, but with more of an alt-country/blues flavor. Yes, I most definitely dig it.

Glad the list shook things up a little.
I was begining to wonder. Mind you, they got about 15% of it right. As Demetrio indicates, who would have thunk Porcupine Tree making it on a List. There's still hope.

    Cheers,

    Bizarro list

First of all, I don't think they're indicating new artists, just ones that are still active into the 21st Century.

Where the L is HIM (His Infernal Majesty)? Electric Soft Parade (if you can include The Coral, you can include Electric Soft Parade)? Skinny Puppy?

Obvious "emo"/"core" tendency right around 86-89.

Nice to see Opeth and Porcupine Tree up there.

Nice to see Lacuna Coil oust Evanescence, but where the L is Nightwish?

Nice to see God Forbid and Lamb of God up there, but where the L is ...And Oceans?

    etc. etc.

The results seem to indicate a popular vote thing going on, neh?

Ugh, Creed at 57. Just lost my respect for that list.

Not to mention that Refused broke up in 1998. I guess they are still more relevant than 98% of the stuff that's out there today, and The Shape of Punk To Come was recently released on DVD-A.

Also, what is "rock"? Ryan Adams apparently is, but Johnny Cash isn't (or was he not good enough in their eyes?). It would take me quite some time to come up with such a list, but suffice it to say that it would look very little like that one. Audioslave? Come on.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

Sounds like the Clear Channel playlist I'm forced to listen to at work.
It's bogus for me since there's no Fountains of Wayne and my fave One Man Army since I'm their one man fanclub.
