I had no idea this had happened.
I saw Gangstarr about 5 years ago at the Filmore in Denver. It was one of my wildest memoeries at the Filmore.... I think I'll spin some Jazzmatazz today.

Guru aka. Gifted, Unlimited, Rhymes, Universal will be missed.

PoppaC...I see you have champagne and Cognac taste. Watch out man...that Desmond will keep you on the top shelf.. Especially songs like "Desmond Blue" .Desmond with Connie Kay and Jim Hall
and Percy is good stuff. IF you can find Desmond's album "Glad to be happy" grab it.

Diana is so good it seems like a cliche to even mention it.

I love Krall...did you know she was married to Elvis Costello?

Wow...wish I would have saw this earlier....I would have asked for your address. I could have gotten there right about time the "Big Daddy's" secret ribs where done, about the same time you fired of Grant Green....let me no next time will ya.

frenchmon, yes Krall and Costello, they live in Canada. As a result Costello has his own show on Bravo which we get to benefit from. He brings on all kinds of great guests from all of his connections.

I think you missed my post in the Help! thread. I picked up some Dexter Gordon on your suggestion also. Resurgence, sounds great.

I want Clubhouse on vinyl of course.

BTW frenchie, did you get your Jim Hall LP yet? I have spun mine several times. Just sounds so wonderful. Baker's performance was worth the 10 bucks alone. Creed Taylor really knew how to put this stuff together. CTI left a real mark. You have an SACD player yes? I guess the MO-FI remaster on SACD is awesome. Is your LP a remastered copy?

Probably all over the radio, but I wouldn't know since I don't really listen much. This is just plain good. Fuzzed, bluesy beats.Pretty solid throughout. Reminds me a bit of White Stripes when they are bluesy.

I've been scarred by bluegrass in my past having to share a work stereo with colleagues who were a bit obsessed with the genre and talked about it non-stop. However, this one is just so pretty and well done, I couldn't resist. A beautiful and engaging album, lovely vocals, More folksy than straight up bluegrass, which makes it infinitely more palatable, imo. Worth checking out. FA, I'm thinking of you here.

Heh. I'm behind the curve on lots of things; just about every album you bring up, Dexter Gordon e.g. :-)

Hit me up if you can't find what you need.

True 'nuff. Around these parts I like Texas-style BBQ with a twist...it's all about the heat, the sweet, and the cooldown...and the Grant Green was excellent. St. Charles isn't that far away at all so I'll letcha know next time but it appears as if the lil' missus and I are tentatively planning a trip tp St. Louis within the next month or so...I might be able to bring my magic to your neighborhood...

On topic, right now I'm checking out the HDNET Concert: Jacky Terrasson, a great presentation of the piano maestro who won the 1993 Thelonius Monk International Piano Competition.

    Very dynamic...

    Hey Poppa,
If you love Jazz, then you might want to look into albums by Pablo. Great music and very good recordings. For some reason they are always selling them for cheap.

Bobsticks, I thought you fell off the edge of the planet. I've never heard you talk about "a misses" before, is that what has kept you busy?

Did you guys see my thread on the Tom Petty audio Blu ray? I haven't heard it but I'd be interested in seeing what other titles are available.

Hey Mr. P, yeah, I've known her for years but we started getting serious in the fall around Halloween, so she wouldn't have been a conversational factor at our last meeting...

It was a good morning in these parts to be sure:

For those that liked the Sterling Harrison record from a few years back this will be a winner as well...very soulful but occasionally funky...kinda like Marvin Gaye meets Curtis Mayfield...

...and up next, a pleasant surprise from the Sloshing one...gracias, mi amigo...

    Eric Clapton - Slowhand SACD.

Not a huge Claption fan or anything, but I couldn't pass it up for $4 used.
Aside from his Radio-Hits, it's a good album.

I got a near mint copy of this album on vinyl. This is a very special recording, just breathtaking. If you enjoy guitar, I would venture to say it's a must own.
