Not a lot of time for extended spinning lately--it seems that during the summer months everything is sadly reduced to snippets and 20-minute outtakes. That said, today, I'm going the distance with Cannonball Adderley~Somethin' Else. Another Rudy Van Gelder remix...

Presumably, this is one of the series Woochifer was recommending several months ago in a SACD thread. This is easily one the best recorded pieces of music of any style I have heard. Having revisited it three times in less than a week, I am impressed again and again with its clarity and resolution. If you're into SACD and even remotely interested in classical, this one makes the short list.

...hears echoes and watches tumbleweeds drift by...

Starting off a lazy Sunday with a bit of the blues--Buddy Guy's~Bring 'Em In. This is a fun collection of songs, recorded very well, and features the likes of John Mayer, Carlos Santana, Tracy Chapman, Robert Randolph, and Keith Richards in addition to our protagonist.

    Good listening to all

I've never had great luck with Columbia Masterworks, but Stravinsky's Firebird Ballet Suite/Petrushka Ballet Suite is incredible. This mono LP was pressed between 1965-70. I'm starting to become a huge fan of Mono recordings. Salvation Army offer superb stuff if you are a Crate Digger. When was last time you had great deal of fun for spending $0.25 in last 12 months?

I really like them all too, but I think my favorite is If I Should Fall From Grace With God. I have the whole family interested in the Pogues now, because after Mclusky (Mac for short) got vetoed as a name for our dog, I suggested Pogue and it stuck.
