First spin for this Radiohead tribute album which includes John Vanderslice (Karma Police), Vampire Weekend (Exit Music for a Film), Flaming Lips (Knives Out), and more.
edit: This CD sucks! Oh well, at least the price was right (free). Now I know why.

A bunch of Mahogany Rush stuff was re-released not long ago on CD, they packaged like 3 albums onto a two disc set at a very good price. They were remastered as well. I picked up the one with What's Next and the live album. I've got several of their LP's from back in the day. If I'm not mistaken Frank put an album out sometime during this decade.

First spin thanks to a RR'er with all digits on his feet. So far more rockin' than The Boxing Mirror.

Looking forward to that one, but it's still a ways out. What quality is the source?
Been playing some David Kilgour at home lately, mostly Frozen Orange. And the latest Broken Social Scene has been ruling on the car speakers, but just put together a disc of the upcoming Arcade Fire and Deerhunter records for a roadtrip this weekend. Wouldn't mind tacking on some new Autolux though :)

Hey Pops hey noob...heres a little heads up for you two....I got word that a album by Paul Desmond was being re-issued again on vinyl after being out of circulation for a while. You can always find it on CD but not on vinyl. So I ordered it about 2 months ago and I had to wait till they got pressed and shipped over to cduniverse. Its a limited pressing and supply. And its only $18 not including shipping, and its 180 gram virgin vinyl. I got my copy yesterday. The album is "First Place Again" and he has Jim Hall with him as always and he has the second half of the "Modern Jazz Quartet" with him as well..that being Percy Heath and Connie Kay. so if you can spare the loot, go ahead a grab a copy while they still have them....cduniverse.com http://www.cduniverse.com/sresult.as...le=music&rmf=P

I'm really starting to become infatuated with HDNET...seriously...I'm mean, all week there's great Kabuki-esque gratuitous violence (Ubereem anybody?) and on the weekend an eclectic selection of concerts...at the moment: Kaiser Chiefs at Elland Road...
-
Yeah, i check HDNet every weekend now for the concert line up.

Oh man, this is a good one. I pulled it out and dusted it off. If your system survives this, it's good. My H/T system fell apart entirely.
Anyhow, this is Greg Dulli's band, long after the Afghan Whigs.
The Twillight Singers - Blackberry Belle.
Checkout Teenage Wristband and Decatur St.

Off work today, so I think I will start my day with some Stan Getz and strings. Conducted by Hershy Kay in 1961, Stan Getz was age 34 and this was released on Verve.
OF course Getz blows his smooth sax but this time with him are 10 violins, four violas, two cellos a bass, harp and percussion. All the music was composed and arranged by Eddie Sauter for Getz and he had never seen the music before this recording and he did it all in one take. Nothing was scored for him nor had any area been left open deliberately in the composition for his improvisations. Stan being trained in many orchestras in his youth...Stan Kenton, Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and Woody Herman, he was able to find his spots on the fly. So today ima given a shout out to Stan Getz.

Frenchie, this is one of those special LPs that has immediacy beyond your wildest dreams. I highly recommend you get a copy so you can see what your analog chain is truly capable of.
BTW, check out this bad boy. I might buy it. Then you will need to play SS catch up with me...

PopaC...I probably make you sick, but I had that on vinyl when it first came out in 1981 or 82. I was a big fan of all three guitarist especially Al Dimeola with his work with Return to Forever and his other stuff with Lenny White. We all know about John McLaughlin but some dont know about Paco De Lucia who in my opinion was the best of the three guitarist. He was more known for his flamenco style.

Nice amp....you going to get it?
