Best album ever on some days around my playground. Hard to say exactly why, or why many think of it as one of their lessor achievements, but always does something good to me. Love the cool song descriptions on the back with the phony play times that Ira says were lifted at random from a book about the Blues Project, though once in a while they seem almost perfect, not random choices at all, especially for the last song "Blue Line Swinger", "Patterns Of Sound Are My Bag Right Now" ...

Silliest album cover ever, seems kind of strange after selling a couple hundred thousand copies of Fox Confessor to come back with such a cheesy cover, but maybe I'm just blind to current fashion. Or maybe it's just a joke and they will ship with a professional cover? Hehehe, Neko has a couple screws loose, but I do love her, and in any case, sounds like it'll be a good one. They released the single as a free download awhile back with the record company backing and making a contribution for each official download to Best Friends Animal Society to keep places like Pet Smart from mistreating puppies ... so it's available all over ... like at http://www.quarterlifeparty.com/wp-c...otta_nerve.mp3 ... nothing new or out of character, but nice to hear something new ... I'm a man-man-man-man-man-maneater

I was at work and was not going to watch the innauguration (I'm swamped, testimony due, etc...) but I got to thinking about my Mom and Dad and how he'd marched on Washington with King and was a grandson of a slave (he died at age 91) so I wrangled my way into a nice party at a friends house.

Case you haven't figured it out, you could rightly say that Curtis Mayfield wrote the Soundtrack for the Civil Rights movement. A vastly underated talent who transformed himself from "minstrel" tell of teenaged love to champion of civil rights to chronicler of urban decay and despair. You couldn't go wrong with the above.
