    Salsa Sounds of Summer...

I suppose being married to a girl from Puerto Rica has helped shape my genuine love for Latin music and tonight we had our first Summer-Get-Together with a night of campfire, music, food, and fun. The highlight: Celia Cruz' final album Regalo del Alma after a lengthy 45-year career and this album (from 2003) is a winner! If you want a great Latin/Salsa party with some seriously kickin' tunes and a band that is an all-star cast of musicians that are so tight it's rediculous. The beats, the rythym, the hits, everything is pitch-perfect and the Salsa Diva sings in glorious form, despite it being her last album she is in raw form!

Some of the highligh tracks include the opener Ella Tiene Fuergo and the third track Rie Y Llora, which is just a percussive fury that is bound to have you dancing the night away with lead guitar licks that sound like Carlos Santata. This is a must, must, must have for anyone that enjoys dance music or just great musicianship, especially hand percussion! This album flat-out kicks butt!!!
