Record Store Day

Anyone else do this in their 'hood? It's pretty big in Mpls. - lines down the block at the Electric Fetus and you see carloads of dudes racing across town from store to store. There's a list up -here- of the exclusive releases of the day, a few noteables this year. I'll be looking for the Big Star - Third test pressing edition (+ 1 / 300 includes an actual test pressing from '75), Nirvana - Hormoaning (only avail. on their '92 tour of Australia), Sonic Youth - Whore's Moaning (SY's ep from just after that tour w/ Nirvana), Fleet Foxes - 45 from upcoming lp w/ one unreleased tune...
Just picked up the Flaming Lips / Neon Indian ep this am too - guess they pressed 800 copies or something - very ambient but pretty good...

yep - both Rhino records and Dr Strange records do that here.

Also at Dr. Strange, the day after, they have a record swap.

It seems like my LRS has Record Store Days about 12 times a year.

I'm not complaining, mind you. Since I'm in there 3-5 days a week, there's usually something free at the counter for me to pick up. Speaking of which, anyone want to put this stack of promo 45s I've gotten over the years onto CDs for me?

I'm not too insterested in any of the special releases. My local store does a "buy 3 get one free" promo for the day, aside from some nice discounts. Looking forward to it. They also usually have a live band play in the store and sign LPs. Last year it was The Pack A.D., which was cool.

Enjoy the national holiday while we still can.
I won't be celebrating the Holiday on 16th, but will be attending a Record Show on 17th.
