Still a good showing, considering what they were up against. Pittsburg had the 12th man tonight. 13th man if you count the refs. Seahawks get a bum call against the reciever in the endzone, taking away an early touchdown. They stop Rothelsburger short of the goal line. The one catch they called out of bounds when the Seahawk reciever had one foot in bounds and the other kicked the pylon; in the past that was called a touchdown. Madden himself questioned a holding call that killed another big play.

Seattle was jobbed for sure. How do you call an illegal block on Hasselbeck when he's making a tackle, 15 free yards on a crucial tuchdown scoring drive. Just one of many calls that could be called chintzy, at best and sometimes just plain wrong. There was no doubt who was "supposed" to win this game...the Steelers got EVERY call.

It was a better story for the NFL, marketing wise, I guess. But, I'm not terribly sad for the Hawks, because I'm hoping this will motivate them all next year. Let's face it, that's a young team to win it all right off the bat. New England was special for that. Speaking of which, this had a lot of similarities to the Pats first SB win. The Rams had the best record (14-2), the best offense (led the league in scoring, again), and the Pats had to win what, 9 or 10 straight games? Same with the Steelers.

Anyway, the Pittsburg Steelers deserved to be there and I didn't hate them like I had for years. I always thought that Bill Cower got screwed in years past with some seriously bad calls. (remember the coin toss debacle...in Detroit). Karma was good to him in the SB, that's for sure.

Hopefully, this will carry over to next season. I'd rather string together three or four winning seasons with only one SB win than be 'one and done'. I finally look forward to an up coming Seahawks season. We'll see what they do with an up-graded schedule
