Sticks, I see you're quite familiar with the controversial stuff. Let me see if I can find another one for ya. Oh yes, here is one that got blasted in the press because of Richard Ramirez, aka the Nightprowler:
Somewhere a clock strikes midnight
And there's a full moon in the sky
You hear a dog bark in the distance
You hear someone's baby cry
A rat runs down the alley
And a chill runs down your spine
And Someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine
Cause No one's gonna warn you
And no one's gonna yell 'Attack'
And you don't feel the steel
Till it's hanging out your back
CHORUS:
I'm your Night Prowler, asleep in the day
I'm your Night Prowler, get out of my way
Look out for the Night Prowler, watch you tonight
I'm the Night Prowler, when you turn out the light ...
Too scared to turn your light out
'Cos there's something on your mind
Was that a noise outside your window?
What's that shadow on the blind?
As you lie there naked
Like a body in a tomb
Suspended animation
As I slip into your room
-
Fair 'nuff...
...how's about some of The Gun Club?
In my sleep,
in my sleep last night
In my dream,
in my dream last night
In the dark,
in the dark last night
In the hall,
walked Richard Speck last night
[Going back. Going way back. Rewind. Chichichichichichi. Going way back to 1966.
My mother was talking with her sister about some nurses who were murdered up in
Seattle late in the night. Her description of these murders was vivid, and she
accurately identified with the fear that the surviving must have felt, all curled
up underneath that bed listening to her friends get killed one at a time. Waiting
for the moment she too would be discovered and disposed of.
Hence, in my overcrowded childhood mind, these murders played out time and time again
like a sickly off-Broadway production that keeps getting revived. And so, sometimes in
my dreams, Richard Speck walks the hall at night.]

Or, mebbe...
...my personal favorite ,from Jane's A.
"Ted, Just Admit It..."
Camera got them images
Camera got them all
Nothing's shocking...
Showed me everybody
Naked and disfigured
Nothing's shocking...
And then he came
Now sister's
Not a virgin anymore
Her sex is violent...
The T.V.'s got them images
T.V.'s got them all
It's not shocking!
Every half an hour
Someone's captured and
The cop moves them along...
It's just like the show before
The news is
Just another show
With sex and violence...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent...
Sex is violent!
I am the killer of people
You look like a meatball
I'll throw away your toothpick
And ask for your giveness
Because of this thing!
Because of this thing!
Because of this thing!
That's in me
Is it not in you?
Is it not your problem?
A baby to a mother...
You talk too much
To your scapegoat
That's what I say
He tells you everyone is stupid
That's what he thinks!
Snapshots
Make a girl look cheap
Like a tongue extended
A baby's to a mother
Sex is violent!
Sex is violent!
Sex is violent!
Sex is violent!

8 weeks, 8 weeks
in a bar room
8 weeks with my head hangin' low
drinkin'
thinkin'
of my darling
would somebody tell me,
where did she go?
The light around the jukebox
is gettin' dimmer
the stools won't be still anymore
oh how, oh how
my head is achin'
look at the snakes on the floor
(spoken)
Would someone please, please tell me,
what's that weary, weary sound?
I hear lonesome dogs howlin'
there's li'l devils
dancin' all around
They've even took my name off my mail box
there's other faces 'round my door
A great big car's parked in my driveway
I can't park there anymore
8 weeks, 8 weeks
in a bar room
8 weeks with my head hangin' low
drinkin',
thinkin'
of my darling
would somebody tell me,
where did she go?

I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her six feet under
And I can still hear her complain
I used to love her, mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, oo, yeah
But I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my backyard
Oh yeah
Oo yeah
Whoa, oh yeah
I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
She *****ed so much
She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way, yeah
Whoa, oh yeah
I used to love her
But I had to kill her
I used to love her, mm, yeah
But I had to kill her
I had to put her, oo, six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

I still like Careful With that Axe, Eugene. At least I can remember the words. Lessee...
Gotta go. The night is gettin' later and my eyelids are bleedin'....Here, I'll share one mah poems:
Melancholy seeps like the sludge of leaves
Beneath the cracks and roots
Unseen they decay in silence entombed.
Melancholy is a voice that calls in the fog
Echoing in the sound, it is lost:
It is a whisper, as silent as a vinegaroon.
In turns, the mourning and the weary
Pace through the gloom of day
Waiting for night, for the cool embrace of ebony.
Waking days sear through heart and fiber
Bright light is no friend to those
More suited to angst and anomie.
Melancholy is a spike that strikes
Deep within bone and sinew.
It strikes with no regard to want of vim.
Melancholy pauses and never stirs
It lies in wait like a lynx
Crouched and patient and thin.
Melancholy is a friend to the friendless
It is a lover to the loveless
A prostitute with promises of retreat and refuge.
In melancholy, the days blend and blur
In an opium drenched reverie:
A secret, wrapped in veiled subterfuge.

What else would you expect from a band called Jane's Addition? I guess the same can be said for Guns & Roses. I guess I remember my head-banger days better than I thought. DM, I can't place that one. Got a hint?
So this thread has turned pretty sour. Where's Sugar Beats to bring a little the sunshine back into this thread? Oh who am I kidding, this is good stuff. Let me see what I can dig up. This one was always toe-tapping and the band wasn't exactly popular with the mainstream:
She used to be an iron horse
Twenty years ago
Used to bring the mail to me
Through the ice and snow
I've sat alone and watched her
Steaming through the night
Ninety tons of thunder
Lighting up the sky
Chorus
Speeding, sparks like lightning
Engine working hard
Furnace on the foot plate
Shining in the night
Iron striking metal
The sound of racing steel
It's all I ever wanna hear
It's music to my ears
Chorus
Ninety tons of thunder
Lighting up the sky
Steaming red hot pistons
See the wheels flash by
Hear the whistle blowing
Streaking down the track
If I ever had my way
I'd bring the princess back one day
Chorus
-
Alright, you want to lighten things up?
There's a spider in my room
There's a spider in my room
And then a voice above my head
Said if that spider were made dead
I'd better grow some fins 'cause
It would make it easier to swim
I don't like spiders and snakes
The way they crawl, the way they shake
If a spider gets killed how does that make it rain
How could I be the one to blame
A whisper drizzled down from the ice in its eyes
it said, "Try pickin' on your own damn size,"
But the Hoover was quick, termination complete
In its bedroom home got a chance to eat.
In the corner beside my bed
Very busy spinning thread
Eight legs and a little head
I hear the thunder from outside
And the water's gettin' high
I don't like moths and bugs
They buzz, they get in the rugs
But where does a guy find some room
in this life raft home, a little rubber tomb
There's a spider in my room
There's a spider in my room

We could have been God's dream
We could have lived the LIFE!
Could have done great things
Man, it would have been so nice
It could have been me
Could have been you
We could have done anything we wanted to do
Ant I don't know how it happened
But we got it all wrong
The bad don't mean anything
And the good don't last too long
We could have watched 'Black Like Me'
Instead we watched the big guns
And everybody knows the words
To "seasons in the sun"
Could have had give
Could have had take
We could've made anything we wanted to make
So we made 'Wheel Of Fortune'
And all the popular songs
We made a land where crap is king
And the good don't last too long
Now there's darkened doorways creaking in my bed
I got the Mannix theme song playing in my head
Put this one to bed

It's a little country & western diddy by Ramblin' Red Bailey from a compilation that contains other tunes from the darkness such as "Too Many Pills" and "Please Don't Go Topless, Mother."
-
Please don't go Topless, Mother. Yeah, that's definitely country, LOL.
FA, I don't know if that was much lighter, although Barenaked Ladies is a fun name. I had to look the other one up: Spock's Beard.
Let's see what else I have:
Fog in the streets
A church clock beats
Midnight - darkness all around
You better beware
You better take care
Be prepared for the shock
The time has come
And he's the one
Who's breathing down your neck
Coming from behind
Now it's your time
A loser will die
Fast as a shark he'll cut out of the dark
He's a killer - he'll rip out your heart
On a one way track and you're not coming back
'cause the killer's on the attack
Surprise attack
Coming from the back
An expert of the deadly knack
Just take care
Just beware
Be prepared for the fight
Fast as a shark he'll cut out of the dark
He's a killer - he'll rip out your heart
On a one way track and you're not coming back
'cause the killer's on the attack
Watch out - watch out
Fast as a shark he'll cut out of the dark
He's a killer - he'll rip out your heart
On a one way track and you're not coming back
'cause the killer's on the attack
Fast as a shark he'll cut out of the dark
He's a killer - he'll rip out your heart
On a one way track and you're not coming back
'cause the killer's
'cause the killer's
'cause the killer's on the attack

Y'know thissun?
I know something about opening windows and doors
I know how to move quietly to creep across creaky wooden floors
I know where to find precious things in all your cupboards and drawers
Slipping the clippers
Slipping the clippers through the telephone wires
The sense of isolation inspires
Inspires me
I like to feel the suspense when I'm certain you know I am there
I like you lying awake, your baited breath charging the air
I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear
Intruders happy in the dark
Intruder come
Intruder come and leave his mark, leave his mark

Take an aphrodisiac, don't do nothing, just relax
Your heart goes piddle-pat, take an aphrodisiac
If you want to fall in love with somebody
Somebody that you're not in love with at all
With an aphrodisiac, your heart goes piddle-pat
Don't do nothing, just relax with an aphrodisiac
If you want to fall in love with somebody - hey
Somebody that you're not in love with at all
Exciting you, just make you love me too
Somebody that you're not in love with at all
I'm your aphrodisiac, don't do nothing, just relax

Aphrodisiac, gives you a heart attack
Don't do nothing, just relax, I'll be your aphrodisiac
Don't do nothing, just relax, with an aphrodisiac

I wake up and look upon your painted eyelids
The world is your oyster
And the trash bags are your kids
The ceiling is invisible
There's a bird sinking through the sky
And every hour that passes
Is teaching me how to cry
Cuz it's lonely here
In the ugly part of town
The buildings are all vacant
And the telephones are down
There's a police siren singing
Like a tiger with no skin
The sewer drain is glowing
And I don't know what state I'm in
And the river is on fire
There's chemicals and debris
And all the roads are blocked off
Cuz they're just too hard to see
So cancel my appointments
And set up a whole new show
Cuz I'm in need of a good hot meal
And a life to call my own
So get me a plate of money
And get me a blanket and a chair
The limitations are limitless
They're floating through the air
Because it's real and it's true
The things I see in you
And there's nothing I wouldn't talk about
You're the clearest dream
that ever passed me by

Open up the door
Lay the orange juice on the floor
We're having a picnic
On the other side of town
There's sleeping bags and fire
And it's getting down to the wire
So grab yourself a spot
And settle down awhile
'Cause it's getting hard to think
And my clothes are starting to shrink
And the moon is sagging down
Like a metal ball
And the world is a holiday
Smoking' in an old ashtray
They just blow it out their nose
And say ok
So let's try to make it last
The past is still the past
And tomorrow is just another crazy scam.

So I'm digging through some old stuff and ran across April Wine. I actually have several cassettes of their stuff. Pretty decent band. Here's one called Sign of the Gypsy Queen:
Lightning smokes on the hillrise
Brought the man with the warning light
Shouting loud "you had better fly"
While the darkness can help you hide
Trouble's comin' without control
No one's stayin' that's got a hope
Hurricane at the very least
In the words of the gypsy queen
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Get my saddle and tie it on
Western wind who is fast and strong
Jump on back, he's good and long
We'll resist till we reach the dawn
Running seems like the best offense
Staying just don't make any sense
No one could ever stop it now
Show the cards of the gypsy town
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Shadows movin' without a sound
From the hold of the sleepless town
Evil seems to be everywhere
Heed the spirit that brought despair
Trouble's comin' without control
No one's stayin' that's got a hope
Hurricane at the very least
In the words of the gypsy queen
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go

Hey Flier!
So you missed me? That's good. It's always nice to be missed.
How bout these? (I've been listening to all kinds of stuff lately!)
Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
They're watching
All the commotion
the killing of pain
Has people talking
Talking
You
Your sex is on fire
The dark of the alley
The break of the day
Head while I'm driving
I'm driving
Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying
You
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired
Hot as a fever
Rattling bones
I could just taste it
Taste it
But it's not forever
But it's just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest
You
your sex is on fire
You
Your sex is on fire
Consumed
With what's just transpired
And You
Your sex is on fire
ConsumedWith what's just transpired

I think I'm drowning
Asphyxiated
I wanna break this spell
That you've created
You're something beautiful
A contradiction
I wanna play the game
I want the friction
You will be the death of me
You will be the death of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
Our time is running out
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
I wanted freedom
Bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
But I'm addicted
Now that you know I'm trapped sense of elation
You'd never dream of
Breaking this fixation
You will squeeze the life out of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
Our time is running out
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Oh
You will suck the life out of me
Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it
Our time is running out
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Oh
