Overall, even though Malmsteen is smokin', I prefer the original. The rhythm is choppy and they try to rock it up but it just don't have the same emotion.

Malmsteen is quite an inigma. He is one of the world's greatest guitarists but can't seem to find his nitch or the right cast of characters. His first album, although lacking inproduction, is a master piece. Beyond that nothing he has done is really worth owning except if you want to sit through the bad just for his guitar. No doubt he has the scales but I wonder if he has a problem with fitting himself into a "typical" song. I personally think he should get with one of these Symph Metal bands or go back and pick up where his first album left off. Can you see him joining Nightwish, Epica or Tristania?

Absolutely agree with what your sayin' Meestah P. He'd work well with Tristania and maybe Echoes of Eternity as well.

He's so clearly superior to any of his contemporaries that it is sad he hsn't found a home within a more tradtionally structured band. At the same time, after hearing Rising Force it's almost a shame to hear him lowering himself to the extent of trying to rescue and recoup outdated, overrated material.

Make no mistake about it, the purpose of this here thread is to get under peoples' skin.

    meh...

tastless speed merchants do nothing for me

    Malmsteen and Satriani are hacks.

I'd rather here this artist's rendition of Kansas:

I was in NYC for the Echo show and just found a few minutes to log on. Yeah, that's some bad troll dude! Making a sucky song even suckier. Better off leading bad enough alone.

How's that for a 'rise for a bad troll'?

Swishgrandaddy - yep, this place is a bit on the dead side, with a glimpse of rigor on occasion.
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

If you say the word 'gullible' very slowly it sounds just like oranges.

Now that's quality stuff...or at least closer.

Congrats on the Echo show. Can we assume it was one of those charming, yet dingy smallish room affairs. Good setlist? Good acoustics?

This sounds like a rouge but it's true, I was going to start a thread and I still might, Darius Rucker the singer from Hootie and the Blowfish has a solo Country album out, AND, one of his songs is #1 on the Country charts. I heard a piece of it and I think it sucks, even for Country.

Well it certainly would have been less believable had you said it was magnificent...
