Only the 80's? Is this a trick question? 70's don't count? I'm gonna cheat 'cuz I don't wanna look them all up.

I happen to really like the following that I don't see on Nobody's most excellent list

    X Ray Spex
    Mortal Micronotz
    The Damned
    Adam & The Ants
    Clash
    Ramones
    Sex Pistols
    Buzzcocks
    Wire
    The Stranglers
Surf Punks (tongue in cheek but I like them none the less)
    Generation X
Jim Carroll Band - (Catholic Boy was a pretty substantial punk album imo)

Patti Smith didn't like being grouped into the Punk genre Jim. She said in an interview way back that she felt it was a derogatory term that didn't accurately reflect her writings.

Anyway... The MC5 was a 70's band I think but were big in that circle.

Great list being compiled thus far. Prolly need to add The Meat Men, GBH, The Exploited, The Dead Milkmen, and Dag Nasty. Maybe Fugazi.

Looks like a hella comp, nobody. Can't wait to hear it.

Rich- I'm mostly refering to the fact that she came up in the East Village during the so-called punk movement. I think she is a way special artist in the company of very sympathetic bandmates on the six albums I have of her. It only seemed like I was putting her in a pot. I have her on a pedestal, actually.

Wouldda been a great time to be in Southern California. I was land locked in the midwest, although once the bands started touring I did manage to see most of those on your list. How I miss the days of punk rock shows for a fiver or so. Still have never seen TSOL. Since you know 'em and all, could you let 'em know that since they're back together and all, they could really stand to play some dates outside of the west coast. That last album they put out a few years back was actually really good I thought.

Wesley Willis was the greatest punk act of the 80s that didn't release a record until the 90s.... say "Rah!" "Bump my head!" ... because Wesley was the greatest punk act of any decade.

Using the Wesley Wilis "Song Generator" here are the lyrics to his best unwritten song:

    SlumpBuster
    by Wesley Willis

    Right on brother.
You really whoop a snow lepoard's ass.
    I like you well.
I like you a lot in the long run.

    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!

You really whoop a llama's ass.
    Right on brother.
You really whoop Saddam Hussein's ass.
    You are a badass star.

    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!
    SLUMPBUSTER!!!

I love you a lot in the long run.
I love you a lot in the long run.
    I like you well.
You really whoop a snow lepoard's ass.

    Rock over London,
    Rock on Chicago.

Folgers - it's good to the last drop.
