Hey Troy, there's a good business idea in here for you. You should consider packaging some of your photo's as screensaver collections for downloads. Low overhead, easy money.

Um, just don't ask us for royalties for the lightning shot...okay?

Well, all 1300 images on my flicker page are that same 600x900 pixel size. People snatch them for screen savers and desktop images constantly. It can't be prevented. That's free. How can I get away with charging for them too?

I recently saw a show by a local theater group who used several of my images as a projected backdrop. It was shocking and flattering to be sitting there and suddenly, there's my work really big, onstage (pixelated as hell), but I wish they'd asked me first. I suspect this sorta thing happens literally every day, but I have no way of knowing about it or controlling it, short of pulling the work from the www, and that aint gonna happen.

It's funny, I've been on both sides of the copyright issue for years. I rip and trade CDs and mp3s AND I have my own work ripped and copied all over the planet. Is one more wrong than the other? Sometimes it agitates me, others It doesn't.

The only way to prevent it is to put tiny images online, but they just have a much more visceral impact when they're big. I did a lot of experimentation with sizes and the 600x900 is too small to use in print which is a lot more important for me to prevent than online use.

Can't you watermark them or something? It should at least have a logo on it, in the corner or something that says, "Deasignshed" or "Troy" or "Lactater Tots" or something...

All those pics and not one accidental ghost image?

    2 reasons:

    1. I just find watermarks tacky, ugly and distracting. They cheapen the image, making it appear amateurish. As soon as you put words in an image, the image becomes about those words.

    2. I can erase any watermark on any image in a matter of a few seconds or minutes so that you'd never know it was there. Truly, it's not hard.

No, if they want it, it's theirs. The sooner you resign yourself to it, the earlier you can get to sleep.

Is supposed to be very haunted, but no, I've never seen a ghost.
