For jazz, I really like the sound of discs released by Cam Jazz, an Italian label. Very realistic sound. Favorites include Enrico Pieranunzi's "Play Morricone" (with Marc Johnson and Joey Baron) and Kenny Wheeler's "What Now" (with Dave Holland, Chris Potter, and John Taylor).

For pop or country, some HDCD discs I enjoy include Dave Alvin's "Blackjack David" and "West of the West" and Willie Nelson's "Teatro." I agree with bobsticks that Donald ***en's 'Morph the Cat' sounds great. And Alison Krauss's "Forget About It" may be her best sounding and most consistent release.
