I think harmless visual pranks work better than loud or overly dramatic ones because they create confusion before people even realize it’s a joke. A fake electrical outlet prank is a good example since it plays on routine behavior people don’t consciously think about anymore. We tested something similar during a small office party by placing a fake switch next to the real lights, and the reactions were honestly better than expected.
