When I have my browser open, I'd like to have the options (navigation) menu open automatically and stay open during the entire session. Is that possible?

When I pick a menu item, sometimes the "options" icon appears in the bottom right corner. That's fine, but it also contains the white wrench (setup?) icon. Why is that?

Are you talking about the slide bar that come out when you press triangle? Or the keyboard/address thing that pops up when you press start?

What category are you under? Music? Video? Does it happen under every category?

Looks like my questions are too vague...
When I start up the browser session, I then hit Triangle, which opens what you're calling a "slide bar". This gives me navagation options just like a Windows IE toolbar. The way it is now, if, after opening it I move to highlight the Back option, the browser responds and the Slide Bar disappears, I'd prefer having access to those tolls without always having to press the Triangle again to bring them back.

Dude, I just finished watching "Men in Black" ...in Blu, It was awesome! The DolbyTrueHD audio was awesome.

I think I have my first issue. I'm trying to install MGS4, but after I load the disk, it progresses as far as a screen which displays this text:

"This game saves data automatically at certain points. Do not switch off the PS3 system when the HDD access indicator is flashing."

The only other thing on the screen is a purple X, and at this point nothing happens until I hit the PS button, then quit the game. Looks like I'm going to be testing Sony CS tomorrow.

Did you try hitting the "X" button at this time? If that fails, try the > right arrow key.

Yes. Nothing happened. I pressed the right arrow key, the Select key, and then just about every other key randomly and nothing happened. I went into Setup and turned Parental Controls off, Auto-start when the disk is inserted (forget the actual command name) and any other setting I thought might be relevant, but no joy. The only way out is the PS button.

FYI... I was using the included Dualshock controller the entire time.

I don't think you can keep it up. I think this is because most of the common functions can be controlled with the press of a button. Zoom in, exit, previous screen....all that good stuff.

I've always been big on using buttons when I'm in a MS Windows environment since it's easier to remember something when you can look at it on your screen, so I tend not to use keyboard shortcuts much. Guess that changes here though. It hasn't completely sunk in yet that I'm not using a computer.

Looks like I'm going to be getting my money's worth out of Blockbuster in August. MiB may very well go into my Blu-ray collection just because of Will Smith's performance. BTW, he's from South Philly... right across the river from where I grew up. Ain't that special?

You could pick up another game and see if that one works.

I'm seriously thiinking about doing that. I could pick up MG "Essentials" locally, which is recommended in order to get a better idea of the storyline of the game.

Most of the down loadable games are on sale right now. Bowling and Pain are only 4.99 each.
If you don't have a wireless router, a cat5 or cat6 wire will work just fine. I picked up a 50 cat6 for cheap and used that until the wife got tired of it going down the hall.

Just got off the phone with them. The guy had me do a System Restore and after entering the settings again, I inserted the game disk but the same thing happened. He suggested I take the game to a store and try it in thier PS3, or try running another game. Sucks that I don't have another game disk, but I'll run out to Fry's in a while.

He gave me a Service Request number so if all else fails I'll probably have to send the system in for repair. That's NOT something I want to see happen.

BTW, I didn't have much confidence in the expertise of the unit I spoke with on the phone.

BTW2, what does "ATRAC" stand for? I have it enabled.

ATRAC was Sony's proprietary audio codec...Sony's "mp3" if you will...not sure if that's what is on the PS3?

I have the option to enable it so my guess is that it will play ATRAC's. Since this spin of the PS3 is backwards compatible, maybe there are PS or PS2 media with that format. Maybe?

I searched a few threads and did tried to google up some info and I didn't come up with much. I did find some one that had your same problem and it still happened even when they replaced the disc. Hopefully it's just the game in your case.

I'm guessing your disc isn't scratched or smudged. You weren't eating chocolate when you put the disc in by any chance were you

Did you check the game utility or save utility to see if anything is in there?

I searched a few topics on AVS and I didn't find anything except a few horror stories about people sending their systems and getting back refurb's.

I wiped the disk with a clean soft cloth, and uhhh... M&M's melt in your mouth, not in your hands remember?

Yes. Nothing in either of them.

The good thing is, I've watched two BD movies so far without a glitch; the game disk is Blu-ray so maybe there's some hope. I'll find out soon.

I gotta tell ya... I'm listening to some MP3's right now that exist on the PS3; this particluar track is 243kbps and the soundstage is pretty phenominal. It's coming across as a bit crisp, but I don't mind.

    We have lift-off!!!

I took the game disk to Fry's; they ran it on their system and it worked. I brought back home, loaded it, and now it's installing. I'm a hap-py boy!
