Yes, my state...Kansas. And believe it or not, it did happen. As I understand it, the teaching of evolution was stripped from all public schools K-12. It may have been reinstated(don't remember seeing it on local news) since but it really did happen and even made the national news for a bit. Maybe this explains my anger towards things like closed minded, self centered, self righteous, irresponsible people. I live amongst them all day long. And don't turn your back or let down your guard or they will take away everything in the name of morals and ethics.

Yes, it was reinstated by the state after catching a whole lot of flack. Another state is trying to replace the word 'evolution' with something else. I think it was in Georgia.

the next yr when the the state board was up for election. And yes, Georgia, Michigan, and others are doing or want to do what is going on in Ohio. Others are carefully re-evaluating the content and procedure for teaching evolution in the classroom.

If you're inclined, do a search on "evolution in schools" and prepared to be amazed at the results.

Here's a small piece about the battle in Kansas...

Yes, that was interesting. Some segment want to force their religion and beliefs on others.

Science thus far has yet to explain how it all began. Pure speculation at best with the 'Big Bang'. That being said, the Bible may indeed agree with that theory or that theory agree with the Bible. "Let there be light." The way I tend to look at it is science explains how. It explains the mechanics and why something works. The Bible and God explain the reasoning behind an event, such as the reason why Soddom and Gemorrah were destroyed.

The one thing humans always get right!

We're all sitting on this insignificant rock spinning around an insignificant star, an almost invisible pinhead on the universe, pathetic in our feeble attempts to understand the physical world around us (oooooo, we're thinking about going to Mars? Using fossil fuel? We've got a small, primitive man-made satellite outside of our pathetic solar system?). Wow, we've got it ALL figured out.

Interesting how it took a Christian society to basicly invent technology.

I have now seen the light & will accept any theory "they" say is true, "they" being the same "establishment" that laughed at Ptolemy & Eratosthenes (not yet religious, they just "knew" the earth was flat), long before the "newly religious" establishment laughed at Galileo.

I agree somewhat that science is self correcting (though I'm not sure that's the right phrase), to a degree. It's easy for them, since they're dealing with so much that is very difficult to prove or disprove. Take the big bang (please! ). An observed phenomenon that directly contradicts established theory? (That was defended for years using much the same arguments given for our current topic? And taught as a "de facto" fact in public schools?) Well, we can fix THAT!

Religion does tend to deal with absolutes, and quite frankly either you believe the Bible or you don't.

Evolution is similar, with one, huge, UNPROVEN difference - something ADDED, new, to the genetic code.

Proof would make headlines the world over. I await the proof of your chosen theory.

Jeskibuff has got it perfectly - the entire theory of evolution shows that this is an ongoing thing.

Then proof should be literally lieing all over the place, the kind of real proof that would put an end to this discussion.

It's how it operates! With the millions of organisms here, and the millions & millions of dollars & tens of thousands of manhours (that's personhours to some of you ), why can't they find ONE proof, this little itty bitty piece of NEW genetic info, could be in a single cell organism, where is it??

    Just one, little shred?
