I'm back from the dead.
What a long day it was yesterday. They called Wednesday night and pushed the schedule back an hour and a half so we had to be there at 10. They didn't take me into the OR until 1:40. I woke up at about three in recovery in agony. Not my leg though, all that pain is gone. For the next two hours they hit me up with Dilaudid and then some Adavan. This was the first time in many surgeries that I had problems post op with the meds and did get sick a few times. They finally let me out a 7pm. Sick again in the car on the ride home. But for a few crackers, I hadn't eaten since 10 the night before so my wif made me some cream of wheat, which I quickly tossed also but knew that would be the last one. I really needed food to be able to start my Vicadins but couldn't wait.
The doc said that the chunk of disk that squeezed out was pretty significant but luckily it was pushing on the nerve in a good way, if there is one. The nerve damage was minimal but it appears that men get more pain from this procedure just because in general we have more muscle there.
It hurts like hell right now but I am so glad to have no more leg pain. I hadn't realized how much I was babying my right leg until Wednesday afternoon when my wife made a comment about seeing me stand up on two legs for a change. When I looked in the mirror, I noticed that my left quads were well defined and an inch bigger than I remembered while my right quads were an inch smaller and atrophied a bit.
No driving for two weeks now but I am supposed to move about and walk as much as I can with no twisting or lifting. I will take next week off completely and then work from home the second week.
I have already lost some of my Oscar and getting back my sick sense of humor.
Cheers, and have a beer for me.

Glad to hear that it went well and that you're back on your feet so quickly. :)

Hey Hyfi,
Good to know all went well for you even though there was agony to endure. Yes sir, I will have some Stout in your honor in just a few hours from now. Take it easy and try to rush any physical exertion while in recovery mode.

Hyfi, I hope the worst is all behind you. Carry on with your recovery.
