Question what is best 5.1 hdmi 1.3 4 ohm AVR or preamp/power amp under $3000

I am setting up a media room 14ft x 18ft. Picking speakers easy--- Magnepan MG12 or MG 1.6 with surrounds. HSU SUB. Projector Panasonic PT AE-3000. Stewart firehawk Screen.

However, the AVR or Pre-Amp + 5.1 Amp is driving me crazy. I cant seem to figure out the best set-up. I have been thinking about Denon 5308ci or 4308ci, I have looked at Integra DTR-9.9 or DHC9.9 +AMP, Outlaw 997 + 7500 amp, the new Rotel 1560. Someone even suggested Krell HTS demo Pre-amp with Musical Fidelity HT600 amp. Amazon.com has the Adcom 7705 + GTP 870HD for about $3000. I am completely befuddled!!

    I need HELP!

    Thanks

Definitely go with a pre/pro for that much budget. I like the Outlaw combo, and as a 990 owner I can't wait to get the 997!

    Cool

    Wish I had you're "problem".
I have just about decided on an adcom to power my receiver till I CAN AFFORD
a prepro. And I have had good luck with INTEGRA.
Stay away from outlaw, you can afford better.

Just because Outlaw does not cost as much as the high markup brand names does not make it any less of a performer.

Of course not, and I wouldn't mind having some of their gear, despite the problems
a member of this board is having with his Outlaw prepro.
But with three grand ? Why buy Spam when the budget can handle Filet Mignon?
I have always been a beleiver in getting the best control center you can afford, and then some, and then a decent universal to go along with it.
My receiver was obsolete a few years after I got it, but its exelent design has made HT
A fun experience the last five years or so.

You must not have priced equipment lately! 3 grand is not a huge amount these days.

    Outlaw 997= $1300
    Outlaw 7200 amp = $1849
    Total= $3248

That's hardly SPAM prices, and Outlaw is hardly SPAM. Just because one single person had problems with their unit (who's to say they didn't drop it, miswire it, or fry it with a bad outlet?) does not mean they are all problematic.

If Outlaw is SPAM then I'll eat SPAM any day of the week, because killer SPAM is far better than crappy Filet.

Well, thats even worse, outlaw is charging premium prices for their spam,
although I would be surprized if that prepro is 1300 bucks, seems a tad high.
Point is, if you can get adcom or Rotel or even Integra for three grand why go outlaw?

Oh I see your first problem..you think Adcom, Rotel or Integra is better than Outlaw. Not the case.

And yes, the new Outlaw 997 preamp is a steal at $1400.

My 990 was $1100 5 years ago. That's just the cost of world class equipment, it ain't cheap.

Show me a Rotel, Adcom, or Integra that does more and costs less.

Just curious...what Outlaw equipment have you owned, Pix?

Oh I see, a typical "outlaw", you probably live in the "saloon".
I wouldn't dream of arguing with you any more than a member of the Democrat party,
    or any other indoctrinated individual.
Any more than I would buy the rebadged stuff that is OUTLAW.
Bottom of the vat Coors is keystone
Bottom of the vat Miller is Milwalkees best
And bottom of the vat ATI, SHERWOOD, etc is OUTLAW.
Every company needs a place to send stuff that just isnt quite up to spec for their regular line.
Outlaw isn't an electronics company, they are a marketing concern.

I'm not arguing either, I just asked two simple questions:

    1) What Outlaw gear have you owned? Surely you wouldn't spew non-truths without first hand experience.

    2) What Adcom, Rotel, or Integra processor does more than the 997 and costs less?

I didn't think those were too out of line, I'd honestly love to know the answer to both. I'm pre-pro shopping.

And lookie here...I don't want to hear sh!t about a company selling 'leftovers' from somebody who owns a Vizio TV bought from WalMart. Pot+kettle=black.

I havent "owned" any of their stuff, havent bought much of anything lately.
BUT like the new commercial for toyota says, to paraphrase,
why buy outlaw when you can buy the real stuff that outlaw rebadges
    their stuff from?
Their whose reason for being is quality gear at "economic" prices.
If they are just expensive as everything else then why bother with them?

    Again....

Vizio. They use the panels that Panasonic and Samsung reject, so you didn't hesitate to buy a rebadged product. Might want to think about that before trying to berate Outlaw....whom you obviously know nothing about.

We're all still waiting for that list of Pre-pro's that you have gathered that offer more features for less money. Let's see it.

Its not "rebadged" , its its own design.
And the slight reason for the panels rejection is that they are not "perfect", nobody
but a falcon or eagle could notice anything.
I have stated repeatedly that Vizio is not perfect but a good value for the money,
    which apparently outlaw is not.
As for prepros that offer more features for less money I thought that was supposed to be Outlaws job.

Exactly. But you said NO. You said Adcom, Rotel, and Integra could be had for the same price or less. Where's your proof?

Let me guess..you have no idea what any of them cost (hell you had no idea what Outlaw cost) because they don't sell them at WalMart.

    Question still no good answer!

I pretty much have decided to go with the Integra DHC-9.9, But I have not completely ruled out the Outlaw 997. Both can be gotten for about $1400.

As for the Amps, there is a LOT of possiblities. The Odyssey ht-3 + Khartago will cost me about $2100 but the reviews are nothing short of phenomenal! 150W@ 8ohm just under 300 Watts for 4 ohm The Khartagos will give about 200W @ 4 ohms for the rears.Thats a little mmore than I want to spend but it may be worth it in the long term.

The Parasound 5250 or halo A-52 are another possibilty.

I have not ruled out Adcom, Outlaw either.

I dont keep up with the prices for various items unless I am shopping them, because, unlike you, I HAVE A LIFE.
And I will take Adcom, Rotel, OR INTEGRA over Outlaw any day of the week,
    regardless of price.
