Well I called that one. Onkyo 906 out now.

Wellp it's listed on the official Onkyo website so they must be putting it out there. I did a comparo to my 905 and it looks like a new Audessey protocol and a few other things as well as a $200 bump in price.

    Enjoy

Pffft...enjoy your, obsolete paper weight, Worfster. It probably still runs on leaded gasoline...

Worf's receiver is dead! Long live the replacement.

Worf, you got a great deal on a great receiver no matter what new bells & whistles they put on the new models. Enjoy.

I'm sure the firmware is up to the latest rev. What is it, 100.10.1 now?

    Hey.... I resemble that remark.

Heck no man, I'm happy as a pig in slop. I've NO itch to upgrade anything. I ran my 898 till it was well into the lagging edge and I'm switching it into my upstairs system this evening. I'm no "keep up with the Onkyo's", gotta have the latest and greatest kinda guy. Nope, not moi. I'm somewhat cheeeeeeeep.

    Good to know.

But like you, I'm finally coming to my senses re: the upgrade bug. I'm happy with what I have for now. Ok, I still want another, larger plasma (somehow even a 42" seems too small for some movies), but that's it. I'm finished. Done. Content!

That said, if we get X-Mas bonuses this year, all bets are off! (Can't believe that we're almost in September already.)

Then you may not want to spend to much time here Jazzman. These people here made me the poster child of the upgrade bug flip-flop. I'm expecting my roof to colapse any day now from neglect.

Speak for yourselves. My system is perfect the way it is. No upgrades in sight.

    Well........

I could put a BFD to good use.
Maybe I could use a 1080p projector too.
But then I'd need a receiver with HDMI.
But if I'm going to change my receiver I may as well get a pre-pro instead.
    And I'll need external amps.
And then I could get better surround speakers to match my mains.
Oh and the old reciever would be great in the basement. I'll need new speakers there too.
Too bad there's no TV in the basement. Maybe the old projector.
Hmmm.. the basement will need lighting control and sound insulation.
    Hmmmm.......
