evil I dont know much about the 640 BUT by most accounts I believe the 757 has more features than the Pioneer 1015. For example, the X-over is fixed at 80Hz on the 1015 whereas the 757 has multiple X-over points which can add some significant tweaking capability. This is not to say the 757 is better over all but for what I gave for it anyone would be hard pressed to find a better receiver for the money. Therefore, I guess a better question would be how much better is the Pioneer1015 with respect to the YamahaRX-V757????

Actually, the 1015 does have many difference x-over points - 50, 80, 100, 150 and 200. However, it is all up to your ears. Is it better than the 757? Honestly, I haven't heard that model, so I don't know for sure. But I know it sounds much better than my Yamaha.

Evil it sounds like to me that either of the two receivers would be fine by most standards. Personally, if I had not gotten such a good deal on the 757 I would have w/o a doubt, opted for the Pioneer1015. For now, I think I am happy with my purchase. Thanks for the info.
