The question is whether the new upconverting DVD-HD950 and HD850 will correct the problems of the HD941. If so, the upside would be hard to resist. In addition to 480p, 720p, and 1080i, both players will scale to 768p via HDMI, which would be a big help for many plasmas and LCDs. Plus, the 950, which will list for $250 ($50 more than the 850), supports DVD-A and SACD and has its own little LCD screen. Given how inexpensive it is, it seems to good to be true, which makes me cringe a little, especially since the earlier models didn't deliver on their promises. Well, we should know soon enough; they're both schedule to arrive this month.
