Need Help From Specialists (Receiver + LCD TV)

I'll appreciate any help I get on this as I'm about to give up.

I have a Yamaha HTR receiver with JBL speakers. I recently replaced my large Sony Wega with a small Samsung LCD TV. It appears that they only way to make the receiver transmit Television sound through the speakers is to turn off the TV speaker, however, the small LCD TV's do no offer this function. I was wondering if someone knows of a way to make your TV transmit through the receiver and speakers without turning off the TV speaker somehow. Please help!.

    Thanks in advance.

    connections

If you have a cable box or satelite box, here's what to do. If it has a digital output, coaxial or optical, connect that cable right to your receiever using one of the Digital inputs. If it only has analog (left and right) outputs, connect them strait to your receiver using one of it's analog inputs. If you're using a DVD player, use the dvd players DIGITAL output (optical or coaxial doesnt matter), then connect it to one of your receiver's digital inputs. This will make it imposiible for the TV speakers to play any sound because the DVD player isnt sending the audio signal to the TV. For both the cable, satelite, and dvd just connect all your video cables strait to the TV, if you don't have enough inputs on the TV, just use the video switching on your receiever. If I didn't list the component that makes the sound come through your TV speakers, just tell me so I can tell ya what to do.

Thanks man, that seems to make sense. I'm getting a cable box this sat so I'm going to give that a shot. I actually have digital outputs for everything (xbox, dvd player & cd player) i'm using one of those 3 ways switches, it's the damn TV sound that's been giving me problems. Also, do all receivers work in this manner or is Yamaha the only one?
