How to connect surround processor to my receiver?

I got a Fosgate Surround Processor Model Four and I want to connect it to my receiver! From where should I get the signal from the receiver to get it to the surround processor? I want the receiver to work and the surround processor to work for surround. I am using kenwood KA-128 amplifier and I also have one Kenwood KC-105 preamplifier. Any suggestions?

If that's your processor in the link you can't hook it to a receiver. The KA-128 is integrated isn't it? The Kenwood preamp isn't going to help you in any way. It looks like the Fosgate is a preamp/processor and you will need power amp or amps for that. Start looking around for a 5-channel power amp or a 2 & 3 channel. Once you have the right pieces you hook it up like any other preamp, outputs to amps inputs.

I guess if you had a receiver with at least a 5.1 analog input you could plug the processor into that but if the receiver is 5.1 it has it's own processing built in and adding the processor is a bit redundant to say the least.

I see what you mean! I have one old receiver and I will try to see what will happen! So the Fosgate is like preamp! I see what you mean and the way to connect it! Thanks Mr Peabody

As near as I can tell, folks around the web seem to think the Fosgate is similar to the Harman Kardon AVP2. You can go here for a copy of the manual on the AVP2.

The Kenwood KA-128 is an integrated amp (read: 2-channel audio reproduction only) from the 1980's. At the very least you'll want a multichannel power amp for the Fosgate SSP.

Getting a multichannel amp should be fairly easy to do, although I can't vouch for the quality of an inexpensive unit. (Apologies in advance for the assumption that you're looking to do this on a tight budget.)

That said, if you need a short term solution, keep a receiver in mind. These days you can find them dirt cheap, some with the most current surround sound codecs. It might save yourself the trouble of playing Dr. Frankenstein with that Fosgate SSP

It might make sense to buy another receiver depending on what you want to do, Pioneer has a fully functioning updated receiver for $299.00 but I forgot the model.

i have a receiver but the thing is that i wanted to connect it somehow to my amplifier but it is fine. i see how it is so i won't be able to use it.

Is your receiver capable of surround sound though? If so, why would you want to connect another one to it. The Pioneer I was talking about at $299.00 is an A/V receiver complete with HDMI and current Blu-ray HD audio decoding.

No you get me wrong! I have a receiver in one of my rooms! In my living room I have my kenwood amplifier, cd palyer, cassette deck, tuner, equalizer and preamplifier. I don't have surround so i was planning to add the Fosgate to the kenwood amplifier so I will have surround there! Thats why I was asking!
