Component Video Input on my receiver

Hey, I just wanted to get something straight, im looking to buy a htib set up (the onkyo 770) and it says the receiver has 2 compnent video inputs. So if i hook say ps2/xbox to it through component video would it act as some what of a "video selector"? Will there be any loss in picture quality if i do this? Thanks

    Yes.

There are two answers to that question:

If going thru the receiver give you flexibility of another component input, then convenience outweigh its disadvantages. Just remember to use quality cables.

Other wise, the direct connection is always the best

Quality loss is an issue but I can hardly notice it.
