    Room SetUp

Hey Everyone, I'm new to the forum and I've got some questions.

We just got a house and I'd like to rig my room with Audio Appliances. I know next to nothing about Audio Speakers, I can connect them and everything and know some "basic" concepts. Heres what I want to do:

I'd like to put 4 Speakers Into each of the corners of my room and have 2 In front of my TV, DVD/MP3 player. Most of the time I will be playing Music so I would like to have a good subwoofer and wat not. I'm 15 and all this unfortunately comes out of my pocket so my budget is under $300. Any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Nate The Great

You can stretch your budget if you by factory refurbished (customer returned and factory tested) products from a factory authorized dealer with the manufacturer's warranty. I have done some searching on your behalf, and the best deal I can find right now for less than $300 is the Onkyo HT-S670. People who have bought this system seem very happy with it even though it usually costs them $399. You can get it for $224.40 from eCost which is an authorized Onkyo dealer.

For information on speaker placement in your home theater system, see this advice from the Dolby website.

Thanks for the research, but I’m just looking for speakers. I’ve already bought My DVD player and a 5 Disc MP3 player. I’m looking for a Speaker Setup, Do I need to buy a receiver too hook up all 6 Speakers or is there a set out there that I can buy that does that. Thank you

Neither a DVD player nor an MP3 player can drive speakers by themselves. Yes, you need an A/V receiver or a multichannel amplifier in addition to the speakers. The system I recommended to you has everything you need and nothing you don't need since it comes without a DVD player.
