Bose Accoustamass 10 and AV Receiver

I have set up a similar system. Here is what you must do.

The speakers setting in the receiver must be set to large.
The sub woofer setting in the receiver must be set to no or off.
The speaker wires from the receiver must go through the acoustamass sub.
The accoustamass does all the crossovers for you.

This really should work fine.

(Notice I didn't say it would work great, but fine!!)

If he's serious about a home theater system, I would look elsewhere.
A local retailer has an Infinity Primus system on sale, 7 speakers with 10" sub
for $ 699. I have set one of these up and it would blow away your friends system.

I want to thank everyone for their responses. I will try the advice of changing the woofer setting to "OFF", even though Bose say that it is to be "ON". Worth a try, no doubt. If that fails, I saw that CCity is using the HR AVR 235 with Bose and it works fine.

If there is only speaker wire going between the receiver and the acoustamass
then the subwoofer must be set to off.

If there is an rca type cable going to the acoustamass the subwoofer setting must
be on (but I really don't remember it having this type of connection)
