Anyone out there own a Sunfire Theater Grand Mk3?

I'm thinking of upgrading my Lexicon DC2 due to its relative obsolescence in the current HT arena, and the Sunfire should be a good fit since it offers a similar 7.1 channel setup that I am using with my Lex at the present time. If anyone does own one of these processors, I would appreciate whatever comments you could provide, be they negative or positive.

My other choice would be the Lexicon MC8, but that would cost me at least $1000 more than the Sunfire, so I'm certainly leaning toward it at the moment. The savings will go toward my upgraded mains when the time comes, hopefully sooner than later. The Lexicon has been an excellent piece of equipment for me, but it's time to move on I suppose (sigh).

    Thank you in advance,
    Swish

It looks like the GT Mk3 isn't all that great for the price, although it can be had for about $2,500 at several locations, or 1G less than they stated many times in their review. Perhaps I should spend the extra money for the Lexicon MC8? I really don't know enough about it yet, but if it's as reliable and capable as my old DC2, I'd be one happy camper with it.

I'm sure that there are many owners that don't share their view.

You might want to check out the Emotiva that AV123.com is coming out with shortly. It will have a lot going for it and I'm sure will be good value in it's price range if past offerings from them are indicative. They showed them at CES and the buzz has been positive. You can find info here http://forum.av123.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2077 and on The Show Thread.

    Happy hunting!

    Paul,

Have you considered an Adcom Preamp/Pro? I was recently reading about this one:

    http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/pr...fier/Processor

It would probably match up well with your Adcom amps.

I'm Swish! Just messin' with ya dude. Hey, thanks for the info. I'll have to read some reviews on this one to see how it performs. As I mentioned, I need something that will allow 7.1 channel performance, along with DTS, DVD, Dolby EX, and component switching, and it appears this unit meets my requirements. I'm in no rush, but it would be nice to play DVD Audio the way it's intended instead of in some faux mode like I do now. This one is about the same price as the Sunfire, and both are much cheaper than the Lexicon. I just love my current Lex so much that I would like to stay with them, but the MC 8 is quite a lot of $.

    Thanks again,
    Paul, I mean Swish!
