Quite obviously the same unscrupulous salesman that sold Major Matt Mason his Kenner Close 'n Play with the Gouge-A-Matic 2000 cartridge!

Not true. Some of the pictures on this very thread (including mine) were uploaded on this site. Look at the bottom of the page when you're posting a message. You'll see an "Attach Files" section that has a "Upload/Manage Photos" button in it. If you post one picture, it'll automatically display in your post (inline). If you post more than one, the pictures will appear as a list and viewers will have to click on each file name to display them. You are limited to 5 pictures per post.

Perhaps you are just used to the old way of uploading pictures. The software transferred the picture from your computer to the AR server and gave you a URL to address the picture with. That won't work anymore. You'll note that the addresses look like this: http://forums.audioreview.com/attach...entid=45&stc=1 , which is gonefishin's picture, the first in this thread. This method was implemented I suppose to keep people from using someone's server to post their space-intensive pictures to the internet, although the pictures may have had nothing to do with the forum they posted them in. Note that you can click on the URL to see the picture, but you can't use it within image tags like [ img]http://forums.audioreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=45&stc=1[ /img] So, it's either get your own webspace to upload what you want, or use the forum the way it is now, limiting you to posting pictures that better have relevance to the discussion!

Oops - Forgot the Infinity sub in the den (10",100W, servo driven). Too many toys, I guess; hard to count them all. I also have the problem of insufficient space in the profile for the system list; mine ends about a third of the way through the HT description.

    regards, billb....

Edited now to reflect following changes:
VMPS sub is out. Not enough room in new place for it and the GF liked the SVS better.
Rocket RS550 mains - added 4/20. Added risers and spikes on 7/8.
    Rocket RSC200 center - added 4/29.
    Rocket RS150 surrounds - added 7/3.
SVS 20-39CSi and Samson amp still in system. (Likely will move to Rocket UFW-12.)
nOrh LeAmps still in system though verdict pending due to:
Yamaha RX-V650 - Will be delivered today (7/9) and added into the system either today or tomorrow.
DVD player and TV player remain.

Ceramic blue/silver nOrh 4.0s are now up for sale. More information can be found at HTF. $500 plus shipping. Pictures available upon request.

    Greetings

New member checking in with a recent success story. My newest addition is an Adcom 5802 to power my Maggie 0.6QR main speakers above 60Hz. I was using my Denon AVR-3803 to power my 5. speakers, but the main screens were just not at all musical with the Denon. I read about Adcom being a good match for Maggies, and also about the quality of MOSFETs vs BiPolars. When I found a deal on a used 5802, I jumped in. I have my main Maggies bi-wired now to the 5802 and it is the best audio purchase I've ever made. The sound is so sweet and real - seems like I am hearing real instruments in the room, not reproductions. Piano has been a disappointment on the Maggies until now, but no more. It's now like felt on strings instead of metal on metal, and all the harmonics are there. Sound stage is huge (perhaps too huge for some). Near total accuracy as far as my ears can detect - so revealing that my old favorites have all kinds of little surprises for me now.
With the Denon 3803 offloaded to only power the surrounds and center Maggies, which are 5 ohms 1-way >100Hz, it now has the current capacity to get the job done and these speakers blend well with the mains.
Anyone with Maggies and not perfectly happy with the sound, check out the 5802. Audio nirvana to my ears. Seems like 450 watts into 4 ohms would be overkill, and it probably is. I don't drive it beyond realistic listening levels for a small room, and I expect most of the time the 5802 is loafing along in pure class A mode. DVD-Audio is spectacular on this system. My listening hours are way up since this upgrade. Total transformation.

    Confessions of a wannabe

OK, I'll admit it. My audio/HT rigs are not exactly 'audiphile' quality.
At one end of my family room, my HT is a downright joke:
    Sony 33" TV
    Norcent DP1800 DVD/HTIB (less than $130!)
    JVC S-VHS
    Philips DishNetwork Receiver

As bad as the Norcent is, it sounds better than the Sony audio. I use the Sony for center channel. All other audio is thru the Norcent amp/speakers.

My stereo is (only slightly) better:
    Sony RCDW 500 CD player/recorder
    HK3475 Receiver, driving speaker mids/tweeters
Carver CM1090 power amp section driving speaker woofers
    B&W DM640 Speakers, bi-amp setup
RatShack gold interconnects, Romex 10-guage for speaker wire

Nope, no turntable. All my vinyl was destroyed in a flood 6 years ago.

The problem here is not so much the equipment as the room. The electronics reside under my bar, and the speakers are stuck 'way deep in corners 25 feet away, in a billiard room - 16 X 30, glass on 3 sides and open to a large family room on the 4th. No comfy chair in the 'sweet spot' (assuming there is one!) because it would intrude on the billiard space. Someday, I'll have a properly set-up media room.

    vintage system from the 1970s/1980s

    speakers: ADS 1230s (1983); power amp: Quad 405 (1978); pre-amp: Nakamichi 410 (1978); table: Thorens 166 mk2 (1985); cartridge: Sumiko Pearl (1997); tuner: Yamaha T-1 (1978 or 79); cd: NAD (1987); cassette: Denon (1985, it's broken).

If there's better sounding speakers than the 1230s in that price range (retailed for $1500 in 1983), I haven't heard them.Which is the reason I've never been compelled to "trade up." The weak link here is the Sumiko Pearl. Perhaps I should have spent the extra $150 it would have cost to get the Sumiko MC high output Blue Point Special. But with CD and dwindling vinyl recordings, I didn't see the need. In my view CDs sound better, though I realize there's a fringe element of the audiophile tribe that profoundly disagrees.

How are you liking the A3.2? I liked it at the dealer's and I'm planning to buy it myself.

i love it, lumiere. i've had it for about 15 months and enjoy it every day. won't the dealer let you take it home for a test drive before you buy? i upgraded from an NAD 521... so, for me, the difference was astounding.

it does need a break-in. i'd never had experience breaking in a digital component before, and i found that after a few weeks things were still getting better and better. so, look for that.

that Infinity CC-2 looks way too small for your setup. it looks like you need something beefier with dual 6.5" woofers.
