I saw the teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie before Cloverfield and it got me excited. Could Hollywood really be getting another franchise back on track? James Bond, Batman, and now Star Trek? all back on track.
No, Star Trek is more "dufus" than "dork". That being said, I'd take that one over the 1st example!

I prefer a couch/loveseat to the single seating though. It's always nice to snuggle up with the honey during a movie!

Keep in mind fellas, this isn't just some rich poser. He's a former engineer with Chesky Records and an ISF Certified Tech. IOW, he actually knows what the hell he is doing. He didn't build this thing for sh!ts and giggles, he's trying to push the envelope of what is possible in audio and video. True, it ain't pretty, but judging from his wife, aesthestics clearly aren't a priority. (Oops! Did I just say that?) He's trying to extract the last ounce of performance out of a the available software and hardware.

As a gearhead, I respect that kind of lunacy.

But why would he put the amps in front of the speakers? Does that help with the despersion?

Well, I'm no engineer, and I certainly don't have anything close to the kind of disposable income that he does. However, I find it difficult to fathom that somehow this setup is any more superior to sytems costing MILLIONS less.

For all the cash that he dropped, it appears that little was paid to to room setup, comfort, or anything else.

Frankly, it looks like a warehouse for speakers. Its neither practical, or particularly useful. And to your point "extract the last ounce of performance out of the availble software and hardware", what exactly is he extracting? Looking at the room and it's setup is akin to buying and installing a 50,000LB sq inch press to crack walnuts in the living room. Sure it does the job, but to what gain?

Is buying all this equipment worth it? And if it was, why stop at $6 million. Surely if he had only spent $10 million...or maybe $11 million. I think he passed the curve on the law of diminishing returns about $5,750,000 prior. After that its just a statement about how much money he has.

You guys are missing the point of his set up. If it truly cost 6million then his net worth must be tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars and he built it because he could, just like a dog can lick his onw balls because it can!
