portable CD MP3 review & cue

I am looking for portable CD MP3 player that will afford me true rewind and fast forwarding of content from any point in that mode, not just from track to track. I presently own a Philips that does a great job fast forwarding but completely loses it during rewind, resulting in jumped tracks, misalignment with the shown playtime, restarts to the beginning of the track, freeze-ups and shut-downs. And please, no Sony recommendations. I don't mind paying through the nose for quality if I must, but I do object to paying for "packaging and a name." Other than that, any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Why an mp3 cd player?

If it has to be an mp3 cd player, I can't help. The last one I owned was a TDK model which I was happy with but after moving on to HDD players, I'll never go back to the portable cd players. Have you considered a juke box player from iRiver, Creative, Rio...?
