IMO, Carter is one of the great 20th century composers although, unfortunately, he will never receive broad public recognition. He is in his 102nd year and still composing last I heard.

There were plucked strings at various points which likely caused your confuse hearing them through those desktop speakers. :19:

Yeah, my wife really likes Loreena McKinnitt, notably Lady of Shalott.
The YouTube video is nice, though; I especially like the Pre-Raphaelite art which works will in context, also the photograpy.

Do so, JM. The above are pretty avant garde and won't be everyone's cup of tea. But I have many string quartet recommendations that cover a range of tastes, (always assuming a basic respect for classical music). Check out these in my chamber music recommendations, see HERE or below in my signature.
However another interesting avant garde example is George Crumb's Black Angels; people don't spontaneously realize that it's a string quartet, but that's really what it is with just a few added effects ...

I'll never critique anyone's gear for the sake of music. To be honest, I could care less what kind of gear any of you have - I never read equipment lists. Nothing more insufferable than going to a guy's house and watching him play 30-40 seconds of several songs to demo his system (especially when you di'nt ask in the first place). I'd rather collect music than chase technology.

Listing your gear on here is not meant to be a brandishing of it. Rather, its for others to see the various combinations, thus others are glimpsing what is workable, and within budget or not. I chose a dark sounding receiver to offset somewhat bright sounding speakers. I want people to be able to note that. That's all. I look at equipment lists to gain insight. I usually do, and I like it. :9:

OK now you're talking a language I understand. Dude, Crime Slunk Scene is a masterpiece, not to mention top notch production to satisfy any discriminating ear. He's much more than the novelty that people take him for. Most certainly a virtuoso in his own way.
