Entry Level Sub -- Velodyne VX-10 or Polk PSW10?

    Hi, all!

I'm just a newbie, dipping my toe into the pool of HT and audio.

I've just purchased a Yamaha rxv-559 receiver and the Fluance av-htb speaker system.

I'm considering the Velodyne vx-10 and the Polk psw10 subs.

    Any thoughts on entry-level subs in a smallish room (15' x 15')?

I don't know if the rx10 has the bypass crossover where you can use your receiver crossover. If it has great if not I'd recommend going with the CHT-10 instead which has it. This allows for a smoother integration of the sub.

    Hsu Research?

Or, just build a Bigger-Is-Better with one of those 8" tang-band subwoofer drivers.

    Cool

thanks for the replies...I'll research the crossover settings on the velo vx-10, and consider the cht as an alternative.

As for the DIY project, I think I need a bit more 'seasoning' before tackling that, but it's something I'll file in the back of my mind for later...

    Peace.

The subwoofer driver, amplifier, custom cabinet, and all necessary hardware are included, and can be assembled with just a few basic tools. Very easy!!! I've put together the 10" and 15". Others have put the kits together for the first time recently as well, with no problems. The 10" is going for $288 with free shipping I believe and their CS is excellent.
