Another indication that she should be raising Aaron (and, little did we know at the time, some serious foreshadowing)? But then Christian lures Claire away to the cabin and allows Claire to leave Aaron behind.
So whose side is Christian on anyway?
Things are getting very eery.
Okay, we know Richard and the hostiles (original inhabitants?) have been interested in kids for decades now - Ben and the Others subsequently continued that interest bringing other kids to the island (kidnapping a few as needed).
I get the impression that they're looking for their next leader/chosen one - they thought it might be Walt, Locke, and I guess Ben at various stages. Maybe Aaron is the dude they've all been waiting for?
He was born on the island unlike so many others.
There's something else bugging me too...Juliet! She knows too much about the weird cult crap the Others were involved in. Their research, work, and history. But she's not exactly sharing these secrets with everyone is she? I don't like her, and I don't trust her.
-
Did they actually bring kids to the island or did they just kidnap the ones who were unfortunate enough to land there? And where are all these kids anyway?! We've seen a playground in Othersville, but we haven't actually seen any kids that I can recall.
We know that Alex is Rousseau's kid. But how did Karl get on the island? He seemed to always be alone. A kid that age should have had parents around...but no-one ever seemed to care what was happening to him other than Alex. I never gave this much thought, but now that I'm thinking about it I find it very curious. Don't you?
I haven't made any firm decisions about Juliet yet. I'm not sure how much she knows. Ben was/is in love with her, but I don't think that he trusted her.

Season Ender
Well, well, well. So Locke was in the casket the whole time. Although not a "shocker", it wasn't who I had anticipated.
Nice to see that Desmond, and Penny managed to get back together.
Here is where I see next season. Obviously Jack is going to need to get his **** together. That is where Ben comes in. If anyone can get him motivated, he is the one.
Hurley knows he needs to go back.
Jack knows he needs to go back.
Kate doesn't want to go back-especially after the dream about Aaron.
Sayiad will go back if Ben asks him to. Especially if he (Ben) can convice him that some people involved in his wife's death are back on the island.
Sun is the wild card. Here is my hypothosis on her. She has already contaced Widmore. She is now on a vendetta to destroy the island. Unaware that Widmore was indirectly involved in the killing of Jin. However, here is the kicker....Jin isn't dead. So, she helps lead Widmore back to the island next season. Only to find out that Jin ISN"T dead, and now in grave danger from Widmore.
Micheal is obviously dead. No way around that one.
We also need to find out what happened to red head, and the asian man that stayed behind.
Sawyer, and the lady doctor will become defaco leaders of the tribe, but Sawyer must contend with his survivors guilt. (Jumping out of helicopter led to the death of Kate...he thinks).
As far as Locke is concerned, I think that Ben's tribe turned on him. There is no way that Ben was telling the truth about not being able to come back. He was just biding time until his main rival (Locke) became comfortable, then he had him eliminated.
Discuss.

Well, let me just say that things didn’t unroll exactly how I predicted, but I wasn’t too far off. Desmond was reunited with Penny. Sawyer is on the island. Jin is (assumingly) dead.
As for the rest, well, wow!
The writers are very sneaky. I thought for sure that Jeremy BENtham was Ben. However, as soon as Ben appears at the funeral home and says to Jack, “did he tell you that I was off the island”, I knew it was Locke.
Surprise of the night…Charlotte’s been on the island before.
Best line of the night…Locke: “Is this the magic box?” Ben’s look of “what a moron” was priceless.
But why is Hurley in danger now that Locke’s dead? And who is Sayid protecting him from? Here’s a wacky thought that just occurred to me. We know that Hurley is seeing dead people from the island. Is Sayid dead when he comes to rescue Hurley?
I’m very curious about why Sun wants to work with Widmore. She wants to avenge Jin’s death. She said that two people were responsible for his death, her father is one. Is the other one Ben? Does she want to help Widmore get to Ben? Or does she blame Widmore and is playing a game of “keep your friends close and your enemy’s closer”? I don’t believe that she wants to destroy the island, especially when her friends are still there. And it doesn’t make sense to me that she wouldn’t know that the freighter belonged to Widmore. Lapidus, Desmond and Sayid know, certainly they would have told her.
Will the remaining Island Losties join the Others now? How many of the Others ended up on the Island in the same way (accidentally) and have just accepted their fate...or been brainwashed into it? The ones who were kidnapped by the Others back in S2 weren’t trying to escape from them to get rescued.
Who is left on the island? Rose and Bernard, Juliette, Sawyer, Claire. Anyone else?
One last comment before I go back to work. I loved the way that the show started. We went from “previously on Lost” where Kate was driving away from Crazy Jack right into the show where Kate slams on the breaks and backs up. Just a brilliant segue.
P.S. I cried when Penny and Desmond were reunited. Theirs has to be one of the best TV love stories ever!!!
-
I just had a wacky thought.
Remeber how the Dr. from the freighter washed up on shore dead? And yet when they got to the freighter he was still alive.
Is it possible that Locke is still alive on the island, but is dead off the island.
In this way, perhaps Ben wants/needs dead Locke to come back to the island to make him (Locke) dead in both dimensions?
My head hurts from this time/space conundrum.
Something tells me that Locke is alive in some dimension.

Just watched the finale...
Well, seems I was more right than wrong on this one.
1. They can move in space and time.
2. That wheel, ancient tech? Future Tech? Curious.
3. Where are Penny, Des and the Chopper Pilot hiding out, and how can they hide out from Ben AND Whidmore?
4. Surprised that Ghostbuster and the girl stayed on the island. She was born there and left, which means that at one time women could conceive on the Island.
5. They all have to go back and Ben has a way of getting there. Well isn't that special. Ben can and will go back. Simple as that.
6. What happened to the folks in the raft? Too close to the Island when it jumped? Were they sucked back along with it? Or are they wandering about the south pacific as well.
7. If Sayid say's they're not going back to the Island, where else on God's green earth is safe?
8. When did Afro's come back?
Great finale.

Hey Worf, re: #4, how do you know that Charlotte was born on the island? I got that she had been there before but not that she was born there. Was there something that I missed?
Good question about the raft. There was already a load of red shirt Losties on the freighter which I assume are shark food. But what about the last raft that left? Daniel was on it. I can't imagine that he will just disappear. I expect that he'll show up somewhere next season.

Charlotte said something about still looking for the exact place of her birth on the island.

My take on Locke in the box - he's not dead, or he will be reborn in some pseudo-religious plot.
Ben will not return to the island. He will be used for a few seasons to get the others back, kill Widmore and probably die in the process (perhaps in a redeeming sacrifice way), but ultimately is a pawn and will be a casualty. He can't go back. Jacob chose Locke over him and it's up to Locke from now on...Hurley could be the next in line though, as we've seen he's also able to see the cabin and he's go that whole intimate connection with the numbers thing going.
I still want to know what Sawyer said to Kate.

Couple of Questions.....
Just some curiousation questions.
1. I wonder WHAT in heavens name happens to Jack in the intervening years back in the world that makes him fall to pieces so hard and so quick? Lockes visit?
2. Is it my imagination or are Ben and Sayid looking YOUNGER back in the world?
3. In a world of GPS satilites and real time earth watchin', no Govt, noticed an Island DISAPPEAR???!!!!
4. Michael was allowed to "go now", did that mean die?
5. Hurley certainly didn't tell Walt much.
6. Did Walt seem to have aged disproportionately to anyone but me? They weren't on that Island for YEARS, just weeks/months.
7. Ben shot Locke before, why wouldn't he try and kill him again.

My take on Locke in the box ...
I remember her saying that, now that you've mentioned it. Thanks.
If Jack had died, would that make him "Jack in the box"? :biggrin5:

My guess is just not knowing what happened and where everyone is. Jack wants to save them and he can't. With his perfectionist personality, that would be enough to drive him crazy. I'm sure that it's not that simple however.

Yes. The island had a hold on him. That's why he couldn't kill himself and why Keamy's gun failed when he tried to shoot him. Once the island had no further use for Michael, it released him. Now that I think of it, maybe that's why Jack's suicide attempt on the bridge failed too!

I can't remember specifically what, but there was something in the last episode that put the funeral at about three years after they left the island. If Walt's visit to Hurley was at this same time, he'd be three years older. How old was he on the island? I can't remember but I'm thinking about 11? There's big changes happening to a kid between 11 and 14.
I don't have responses to the rest of your questions. But they are all very good questions.

Can anyone confirm this?
ABC aired part one of the season finale twice. The first time in its regular time slot on May 22 and then again prior to the final two hours on May 29.
In the May 22 airing, during the press conference with the O6, Jack tells the story that only eight people survived the crash and only the five of them (plus Aaron) survived long enough to be rescued. But I don't recall him naming the three who died.
A friend of mine watched the May 29 rerun and she said that the three who died were actually named. They were Boone, Libby and Charlie.
Can anyone confirm that this information is correct? Were the three people named in the May 29 rerun but not the May 22 original airing?
-
I did hear that there were 3 final episodes taped. This was supposedly so none of the actors would know which one would air.:out: Haven't heard of any of the others being aired on a different night.
-
Never thought much of it at the time, but I saw a TV ad for the season finale on May 29 that said the first part would have "unseen footage" the prior week didn't reveal...so I guess that must be one of the scenes!
-
Hmmm. I'll have to search around YouTube when I have some time. I thought that I could wait for the DVDs but according to Amazon, the release date isn't until December 9/08.
What the hell are they waiting for....Christmas???
-
ok, my apologies to my fellow losties here on my absence! i am back and got some chiming in to do! i've been watching the episodes online because i haven't been able to see them thursdays cuz of a play i was in. i have to say i waited for abc to post them online asap and the times they were slow well.... there was hell to pay for making me wait!!!
but on a quick note on the genius of this show again and how much i love it. where's sawyer?
and as to the who was mentioned as the 3 that survived but weren't of the O6, at least as far as the online version of the season finale goes, they didn't mention any names at all. but to have the future storyline now meet up with the 'present' storyline that we've been watching was so jarring and awesome. i'm curious when the past storyline will merge up or how they will handle the 'flashbacks' in the next 2 seasons as the timeline shifting will take on a whole new dimension (pun intended)
