Ben. They did have that romantic lunch by the ocean together, after all.

I was actually going to do an edit to include a reference to that movie, but I couldn't be bothered.

I totally agree that it's Hurley. Jack might be the most educated and the natural leader from the beginning. But Hurley has always been the most level headed and the voice of reason. Even Jack has learned to trust and respect him.
Everybody Loves Hugo. :wink5:

Well Kam, we were way wrong. Jack wants to fix the island after all.
Best line of the night. Miles to Ben, "I lived here 30 years before you did. Otherwise known as last week".
The rest will take some time to digest. But great episode! Looks like we're back on track just in time for the end.

Well now...
That was special.
1. Jacob comes clean, states that he created Smokey when he smoked his twin brother.
2. Jack's volunteered BUT he's not gonna be the man...
3. Sawyer's gonna wind up sacrificing himself nobly to save the whole enchilada.
4. When Smokey/Lockes say's he "wants to leave the Island" does he mean die and be set free like Jacob is now? Or does he think they're gonna give is smokey butt a table at Latesse?
5. Ben is still Ben!
6. I admit I cheered when Whidmore and snookums got wasted BUT the viciousness of SmokeyLockes knife work surprised me.
7. Jack's so effin' noble I want to use his guts for garters.
8. Kept waiting for that knife to wind up in Ben's ribs!
9. So the finale is this Sunday or iis it just a wrap up show?
Worf

That was a great scene. "You told her not to talk to me and that made her pointless'. Put her death back on Widmore...spoken like a true villian. Nice. :yesnod:

According to the ABC Website they are milking this for all that they can starting on Saturday night (the following times are stated in EST).
Saturday night,8:00 - 10:00: ABC is replaying the series pilot.
Sunday night, 7:00 - 9:00: The Final Journey - Reviewing the events of the series; past and present cast members discuss their experiences.
Sunday night, 9:00 - 11:30: The End (last episode EVER!).
Sunday night, 11:30 - 12:00: Local Programming (probably news)
Monday early morning, 12:00 - 1:00 - Jimmy Kimmel Live - Aloha to Lost.
-
Good episode. I figured Jack would be Jacobs stand-in.
Still trying to work out the Locke/Jack dynamic on the alternate universe.
I'm also trying to work out Hurley's statement of "Hello Anna Lucia" and she says "Do I know you?". And Hurley says something like "Not yet". Kinda funny.
So I guess Alternate Hurley is working with Desmond on the Alternate timezone to get everything together?
And is Desmond going to see Danial play a concert with Kate?
And Ben is a bastard, but I did like him shooting Widmore. I didn't trust that guy either.

Ding ding ding.
You win the award for the freakiest comment of the week here. Is this some kind of saying that I've never heard?

not so fast! Jack said he'll do it, and drank to that weird ceremony, but i'm still hedging on Hurley being the last one standing. Especially because he said he was glad it wasn't him. Classic, and it seems like this should be a job for someone who doesn't want it. Just like jacob never wanted it, was never given the choice. even if he wants to give the Losties a choice to taking his place, i think jack's "choice" isn't going to last, and Hurley will be the man. That's my plan at least! And they have a few days to read this post, go back and reshoot the ending episode and put it all together by sunday in case it really is jack and they changed their minds.
-
Jack is waaaaay too obvious a choice, and you know how the writer's always use the most direct route . Jack will buy it taking down smokey (he'll find a way to drown Locke, it's the only way to stop him from turning into vapor) and either Hurley or Sawyer will become the caretaker.
When did Des become so aware of the parallel universe's? Did I miss that part? Why is he gathering all of the Losties?
BTW, watched a bit of Army of Darkness last night, Kam. Great quote!
-
Desomond has always concious of his awareness of alternate universes particularly after the 'The Constant' episode with Penny.
After the episode about 4 weeks ago when Widmore subjected him to high doses of electromagnetic energy, he again realized how he could affect the lives of others in the 'alternate' place.
-
so my last ditch-go-for-broke-calling-it-one-more-time-until-i-think-of-something-else-before-sunday prediction is we'll end up with Ben replacing Smokey and Hurley replacing Jacob.
TOPS - hehe thanks! it's one of the more quotable movies i like to steal from often.
-
Well....

I heard it in an old movie which I can't remember, some villain was telling one of his minions that that would be his fate if he failed. I also heard it in basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood Missourii, or Fort Lost in the Woods Misery, Drill Sgt. Gamache (all 4 foot 5 of him) was using this a motivational speech for some poor boot.

Just caught last nights episode.
Couple questions.
Jacob never says how to stop smokey. What is the plan, sit at the light and tell him NO?
Why did Jacobs brother never have a name? Are they really just two sides of the same person?
So, now that it's almost over, name two characters that were not the main ones that you ended up really liking no matter what part they played or looks. Unless you said Anna Lucia....:hand:
My two are Miles Straume and Frank Lapidus.
Ken Leung has a mesmerizing way about him and is sometimes scary and sometimes outright funny. He grew on me immediately upon his arrival. I'm glad to see he is still alive for the moment.
Jeff Fahey just came off as such a happy go lucky guy with a great attitude. I liked his sinister grin and how he ended up fitting in. Loved is last words too...."Oh Hell"

I would choose Miles and Frank for the same reasons as you. Miles has a sarcastic wit that I just love. The conversations between him and Hurley while they were in Dharma together were just brilliant. Some of my favourite scenes.
Lapidus is just a roll-with-the-punches kind of guy and I love that. His line, "we're not going to Guam, are we?" and his obvious resignation to his fate is still among my favourite Lost moments.

I'm on the Miles bandwagon too, he's been fantastic in his scenes.
And i really like Lapidus, but i think i'm gonna mix it up and go with Christian. I like the tragic figure he was, doomed by his own demons, many of which he passed on to his son.

I liked Ecko, although I suppose one could say at a point in time he was a 'main'.

No, good pick as he was not an original or last thru all seasons. I liked Ecko also and wished he lasted longer.

I agree. Good pick. I liked Ecko too...forgot about him actually.
I read an article recently that said that Ecko was meant to be an important character through the whole series, but the actor wanted out of the show so they ended up having to kill him off.
The same article said that Ben was only supposed to be in four or five episodes, but the producers ended up liking the character so much and Emerson did such a great job that they ended up writing him in as a main character.
I wonder how the story would have been different if Ecko had stayed and Ben had only been in a few shows.
-
Ecko would have killed Widmore.
-
It was more fun to watch Ben do it!
-
Ecko might have used his bare hands, or maybe chopped him up into tiny Widmore chum.
