[In the posters] I love how in this one they are standing face-to-face, in the second one they are both facing in the same direction, and in the third one, while they are both facing in the same direction, machio's head is turned away so they arent "looking" in the same direction! classic!!!!

I wonder if there is any meaning to that?

Based on Pat Morita's expressions, I'd say it goes something like this:

KKI: Hmmm, good script...I think we could have something here

KKII: Awright...I'll do a sequel. What the hey, it's a paid vacation to Japan.

KKIII: How did they talk me into this?!?

the second one, where he was a whiny little jerk, and they both were facing the same obstacle as a rival suitor for the same love and they were both growing further along, especially daniel-san who grew from a whiny little jerk to...

the third movie, where he was a whiny little jackass, and began to break away (face away) from the incredible teachings of sweet miyagi-san.
