    Cool topic LJ

Platoon left me completely and utterly drained, physically and emotionally.

Saving Private Ryan wrecks me when an elder Ryan is standing in the cemetary and is asking his wife to tell me that him that he is "a good man." IOW, he "earned this" as Tom Hanks told him to. An amazing moment.

Exorcist just flat scares the bejeezus out of me. The Changling too.

Sports movies like Rudy, Rocky II, or even Remember the Titans are always great for an emotional lift. On the flip side, there are others that can be real tear jerkers (in a sappy sorta way) such as Brian's Song or Something for Joey that I still really enjoyed.

Das Boot is one of the most intense movies I've seen.

There are plenty more, but I'm too tired right now.

I've asked this from time to time.... good thread.

There are lots of movies that move me.

    1. "They Were Expendable" - The dark early days of WWII. They're out numbered, surrounded and know they're finished. Being asked to walk away from men you served with knowing that they haven't a rats chance... Hard to watch.

    2. "It's a Wonderful Life" - Corny I know but that ending when they all rally round George Bailey.... ah America as I wished it truly was.

    3. "Glory" - Freedom cannot be "given" it must be earned, with blood. They sat around that fire that night knowing that they were dead men but they went singing cause they new for their children to be free, it had to be done.

    4. "Spartacus" - See above.

    5. "The Seven Samurai" - The last battle, the battle in the rain Mifune's rage at the gods, his enemies, the unfairness of it all. What cinema.

Just 5 off the top of my head...

    Much love folks...

Jaws did something awful to me as a child. I would not go into the water after I saw this movie. I'm not joking either. My parents(being the lovely people they are) would literally drag me into the water, when we went to the beach.

Dances with Wolves was another that touched.

I still have scars from that movie when "Betsy" (my date) clamped her nails into my leg! It's ironic too because the scars look like a shark bite...

To this day it is tradition that when we go shark fishing we have to watch Jaws the night before.

As scary as the movie was (and still is!), for me one of the best scenes is Quint's monolog about the wreck of the Indianapolis. I think it's one of the most riviting eloquations in all of movie history.

    Excorcist

I was a good catholic 19 year old. My brother was in the seminary. We went to see the Excorcist. He could tell I was affected by it so he made it worse and told me all kinds of crap about how excorcism is common practice and the devil is doin a number on all of us. His way of messin with me. Still a scary movie today.

I forgot to add Amistad to my list. This movie had me close to tears. My wife refuses to watch and I understand completely.
