If you look at the original TV show, nobody is "star" of show (and as Dusty Chalk said) they all work as one team. Where in the movie, they focused too much on star Tom Cruise.

    And I think the movie alienated alot of TV show fans by portraying Graves character as a traitor. May be the movie producer wanted to cut the any ties with the TV show
