Without a doubt, nothing else, non-mainstream or not, came close to Serenity for me. It's the best movie I have seen in a long time.

Non mainstream, Once upon a time when we were Colored

Its a slice of American history( that still remains under the surface) many would like to forget and how the slavery attitude is not that far remove after 150 years of freedom and how a family/community take steps to make it in America. The story is slow moving but it makes you think how far have we really come as a people.

    Sexy Beast
    Mulholland Drive

    the out there
    Pi (:Faith in Chaos) {great techno soundtrack like RLR}

    and the brutal

    Talking Outstanding topic....

In no particular order and as my dust bin mind brings them up.

    1. "Utu" - Natives refuse to lie down quietly in New Zealand

    2. "Once Were Warriors" - What happens to a race of Warrior Kings in a world with no place for them.

    3. "The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith" - See number one but this time in Australia.

    4. "Trainspoting" - A junkie is a Junkie is a Junkie.

    5. "Donnie Darko" - WTF???!!!!??

    6. "The Mother" - Whoa momma, Desperate Housewives in the real world.

    7. "Secrets and Lies" - What happens when what is done in the dark, sees the light of day.

    8. "From Dusk Till Dawn" - So figgin' over the top you just gotta love this thing.

    9. "Crash" - Simply the best movie I've seen in years.

    10. "The House of Sand and Fog" - Ben Kingsley shows why his Oscor for Ghandi was no fluke.

These are just off the top of my head. I'll probably shoot myself in the morning.

At first I thought, "He doesn't mean the one with Holly Hunter and James Spader does he?"

...but after the porno post, I'm not so sure.

no, the one that came out last year directed by Paul Haggis (writer of million dollar baby) with the ensemble cast Brendan Fraser, Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillion, Terrence Howard, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillipe, Larenz Tate, Ludacris.

at least i think so, if he did mean the other crash by cronenburg (the spader, hunter one) then i nominate the haggis 'crash' as a favorite!
