Cool Best scene from original Star Trek movies.

My favorite scene from total of six movies Kirk, Spock, Dr McCoy and Mr Scott made together, have to be the first 15 minutes of The Voyage Home.

Approaching of probe and chaos at the Headquarter on one hand, and decision of Star Trek (with Spock guessing) to go back in time around the Sun on the other, made an spectacular opening scene.

Well, Smokey, I definitely have a few.....the complete battle sequence in Wrath of Khan is just the best moments of sci fi in my opinion....when the phasers are firing back and forth between Reliant and Enterprise looks great even all these years later. Actually, I am partial to ALL battle scenes in all the films....how about Christopher Plummer as the evil Klingon commander Chang in Undiscovered Country, and then when Sulu and the Excelsior arrive to blow that bird of prey out of the sky along with the Enterprise? Classic.

I still need to buy the box collection of all the films; I have the VHS, but now need the DVDs.

I like that scene in "Star Trek 9, In Search of Cash" where the 275 pound Uhura runs to help a 93 year old Bones that fell and broke his hip, and sparks shoot from her thighs as they rub together.

    But that's just me.

Have the same problem here. I have all of their collection on VHS but not DVDs. Amazing thing is that although I been taking good care of Star Trek VHS tapes and only been played couple of times, the picture is still grainy and color washed out. So basically VHS sucks

I totally agree....I have the SAME problem with my Trek VHS box collection....no matter how little I watch the tapes, they always seem to look washed out and blurry.

I like the ending scene in either five or six when Kirk, Bones and Spock are singing ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT.

    Hello, Kel....

    Agreed....thats a pretty cool scene.

Hey----did you pick up or hear anything about this new Limited Edition Independence Day DVD that was released a couple of days ago? I picked it up, because I only had the VHS version, and I dont know what to make of it....I mean, the Dolby Digital mix sounds aggresive enough, but sometimes not so, and I am dissapointed that the US didnt get a DTS version of this action blockbuster.....supposedly, Japan did on an Ultimate Edition. Hear anything about this?

Hi Lex; I have not heard anything relating to this title. Judging from the original Dolby Surround vhs tape, some areas were aggressive in D.SURR and most were not. I would think that the soundtrack would be more aggressive in a five channel mix. I think the pict. quality on VHS and HBO of this film was quite good with excellent color quality. I actually felt the sound on the tape and HBO however was rather "mushy" at times. Playing this film on my five channel dynaquad system, that systems response did not indicate any great surround sound in many areas of the film.

I have not stumbled over any news of this film on a Ultimate Edition done in Japan so I cannot help you there.

Roland Emmerich who made IND. DAY has made that doomsday film that is about to play in theaters shortly.

Just changing the topic alittle, WIDESCREENREVIEW.COM has a review of RETURN OF THE KING. They gave the D.D. EX tract a 5+ and gloated at the quality of this movie tract. It would be best to read their comments on this soundtrack then me quoting anything. I think that a few months after the initial release, they release a longer version probably with a DTS track added. Judging from that report and if the audio pans out as stated in the inital release, they film could may have a tremendous DTS potential. Take care Lex. Kelsci

    Thanks Kel,

Sure, I am well aware of Roland Emerich and his work; I am a huge fan of The Patriot, which was a big departure from Godzilla and ID-4. This Limited Edition DVD actually is a marketing tool for his new film you mention, "The Day After Tomorrow"....there is a discount ticket for movie stubs inside the DVD. But the Dolby Digital mix on this Limited Edition of Independence Day sounds good --- dont get me wrong; some scenes are VERY in your face....but man....what COULD have been with DTS....louder, cleaner dialouge...better bass....ya know?

I like that scene also, but I thought that scene was at the beginning of fifth movie The Final Frontier. I also love the look on Dr McCoy's face when Kirk fell off the mountain before being rescued by Spock.

    Hey Smokey,

Just wanted to tell ya....simply because I was "in da mood," last night I popped "The Undiscovered Country" out of the VHS box set and watched about half of it before getting too tired; I gotta tell you, mediocre picture quality aside, the sound was quite impressive for a Stereo Surround videocassette....through my Sony Hi Fi VCR, my receiver played this tape back in Pro Logic II Movie mode, and it was pretty impressive....music was loud and came from all channels and the effects of ships passing over, etc. sounded pretty good in the surrounds --- actually more than good. Sure, it wasnt the solid 5.1 effect that a DVD would deliver, but for a VHS tape, this sounded nice.

I was always fond of the scene in "Wrath of Khn" where relaint and Enterprise are fighting back and forth. My favorite trekkie scene is in VI, the "Undiscovered Country", where Kirk says, "well once again we've managed to save the universe as we know it", and McCoy replies, "and the good news is they've decided not to press charges".

    Take care

    Hey Cyber!

Agreed, man....that battle sequence in Wrath of Khan is priceless, and still gets me every time...in my opinion, Trek II is the best Sci Fi film in history, and certainly the very best of the series. For many reasons; Nicholas Myers (who directed The Undiscovered Country" as well) just got it right.

    Peace.

I agree. Did you notice that sound track quality of each movie improved as the oppose to previous one. First Star Trek sound track was so so, and second one was only little bit better. But on the third instalment (Seaching for Spock), the sound quality improved tremendously and it got better as we move up the ladder

Yes, I believe I did notice that, but need to go back to experience it.....you are most probably 100 percent correct. Alls I know is that daaaaaamn....the sound on VI: The Undiscovered Country sounded preeeeety good for a VHS Stereo Surround tape.

We also need a petition to bring back the ultra-mini skirts the female officers wore from the original series.....along with those go-go boots.....agreed?

My favorite scene is also in Journey Home (gotta like Nimoy's directing), but is when they get a lift from the whale lady and Spock keeps blowing the cover Kirk is trying to set up, then the whale lady says she has a photgraphic memory and recites Spock's words... Spock: Are you sure this is not a good time for a colorful metaphor?

Thumbs up "What is it with you, anyway?"

Its not the best scene but it sums up the Kirk Effect on females throughout TOS/Movies as McCoy comments on the Shapeshifter's affections towards the fearless James T. on the prison planet in Star Trek 6.

Agreed, Data.....that was a pretty humorous reference to Kirk banging just about anything with a pussyhole in the entire galaxy in "The Undiscovered Country"......

The one scene that I remember getting the most applause in the theater was the appearance of the 3 Klingon ships with their catchy theme music right at the beginning of the ST: The Motion Picture. Long time fans were so happy the show finally got back on screen it coulda made you cry

    Data,

I didnt get to see The Motion Picture in theaters, but that must have been something to see the fans reacting to the appearance of the ships....sadly, I feel the Motion Picture is the weakest film in the series next to perhaps The Final Frontier...

My favorite part is at the end....when they roll the credits. It means it's finally over.
