Thumbs up $3 DVDs at BigLots Stores.

Biglots chain stores seem to have good selection of DVDs for $3 and some of them are even $2. And that is their everyday prices, not a sale special. So please visit your local store.

Just got back from the store and picked up these DVDs for $3:

Charlie’s Angels: Superbit two disc edition.
Philadelphia Two Discs Edition: Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.
Steve McQeen 2 movie Box Set: Baby Rain Must fall, and The War Lover.
Vin Diesel XXX; Double disc edition.
Christmas With the Kranks: Tim Allen and Dan Aykroyd.
Mr Deeds: Adam Sandler and Wiona Ryder.

They have bunch of other movie selections-including vintage TV shows, but hold off untill I read the review on them on Amazon.

If you are a big fan of PHILADELPHIA than it's a good deal, although that DVD transfer leaves a lot to be desired and you would think the film was from 1983, not 1993. By default probably the best disc to pick up for 3 bucks though is the CHARLIES ANGELS Superbit because it has some really good sound design and music in DTS 5.1.

I would sooner have a very good film that looks average than a crap film that looks great.

Last night watched a few minutes of Charlies Angels, and was blown away by tense colors and sharp as a razor picture. Given that the movei had a reference quality picture to begin with, the Superbit seem to take it to another level. It was a revelation, especilly with outdoor scenes.

I dare you say that statement with $3 and $2 DVDs staring in your face

These are the same DVDs you would find at Bestbuy/Circuitcity for triple the price.

I would not have a problem with that. While i admit that Charlie's Angels looked and sounded great, it was still a terrible movie and i would not pay 3 cents much less 3 dollars for it, but if you like it thats fine, it is after all your money.

I can certainly understand your disposition on the matter and I suppose it depends on what type of DVD person you are, some are collectors, and I fall into that category where I'll buy stuff that I don't even like for different motives sometimes, it's no different than perhaps disliking Kobe Bryant, but I'd gladly take his rookie card if someone had it for cheap. Then again I'd also have to be a sports collector, which I am not.

Screw the dollar. You'll wish you had that hour back.

Seen those at Walmart and I always stay away from them. Most of material come from Public Domain stock which mean the original film nagatives were not use (since they don't have access) for production of DVD.
So picture quality on those DVDs are second rate at best.

I won't even go into Wal-Mart.... I won't donate those precious moments of my life to deal with the idiots shopping/working there. It has NOTHING to do with China..... I find products from china like everything else..... if I can determine it is a quality product, I don't care where it comes from (although China usually doesn't surprise me with quality, but I hear the new B&W 686 and 685s are comparable to the 705s, but I'll believe it when I hear it)

I'm reminded of a bit by some comedian whose name escapes me for the moment...

I have absolutely no doubt that every morning tens of thousands of people wake up and say to themselves "should I take a shower today...naah, I'm just going to Wal-Mart!"

Anyone who's ever been there in the middle of a Saturday afternoon knows exactly what he's talking about.
