    Sony ES Megachanger

    All,

I just bought a used Sony CDP CX90ES 200 disk megachanger off ebay and I love it so far. I'm trying to figure out a way to quickly and permanently erase all of the previous owners stored artist, title, and tracks listing on the unit without luck. The manual only mentions editing entries one-by-one which is painfully slow.

I've already looked for a reset button and can't find one.The unit was unplugged for over a week while it shipped so that's no good. Can't find a battery backup anywhere visably and I'm not too found of diving into it the shell and poking around. Anyone have any experience with units like this and can assist?

    Thanks

This is a quick and easy fix. To erase the memory, simply take a large metal or rubber malet and smash the unit repeatedly with force. Eventually, you will destroy the memory.

    Goodluck.

No, but seriously...I have a Sony mini-system, and when I want to reset its memory, I simply have to pull the cord out of the wall. Since that doesn't work for you, you may simply have to reset each memory slot individualy. You could contact Sony's customer support and ask an employe, or you could look for a forum with a thread dedicated to that specific model of CD player. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and sorry for the first post...

In case someone else needs to do this...

...or you REALLY want to piss someone off!

Got on a Sony chat line and the geek on call helped me(sort of).

He told me to turn the unit off, hold down the "clear" button, then turn the unit
back on again while still holding "clear". I tried this several times and at first it
didn't work but what he didn't mention (or assumed I knew) is that I have to do
this from the unit itself and not from the remote control.

So there it is. He says this combo works on most megachangers...not just Sony ES.
