    LUXMAN D-107u Tube CD-Player -reviews?

    hi,


    can anybody get some more information about this rare CD-Player?

    my audiophile uncle wants to give his to me for free!!! just looking at this huge and massive
    player is absolutely fascinating. you can see tubes trough the front panel. this player must be pre-heated before it can be used. just wow!!!
    but i cant find any reviews about it.nobody at ebay sells it.

    i want to know more about it. but my uncle speaks a different language.
    who can help me?

    I can't tell you a great deal about it, but I had one that I bought used for awhile. That was years ago and I remember thinking that the player might be a little too old back then!!! Wasn't overly impressed with the sound and didn't keep it long. Sounded "veiled" to me, not in a particularly smooth or effortless way. It was huge and had WAY more parts inside than you'd think a CD player required!!! Think the tubes were a plus, but the other technology probably a little dated to the point where the sound suffers a bit. I will say that they sure seem to last ALOT longer than most of the other CD players out there.

    ...Not knocking vintage equipment at all. But two classes of vintage equipment I do avoid are early digital and early solid-state.
