I noticed that you have the Touttles under your moniker. Do you feel there is any difference in their bikes to say a Harley. You are talking about bikes that could be over 100K. They are very expensive would you be an elitist if you owned one. Would you scoff at others who owned one if you could not afford one. Is it ok to own one. I find it interesting that you are putting someone down for owning a 3K dvd player when you obviously like some of the most expensive bikes on the planet.
Kind of hypocritical don't you think?

Well, it's funny you should mention 20 inch rims. I just put my summer 18" chrome wheels on last Friday. While they're mostly for cosmetic reasons and anybody out there who disagrees needs to take a closer look at their self denial, the rims also allow you to corner a ton better. The difference between my 15" stock rims with winter rubber and the ZR rated low profile 18" summer rubber is profound. You can feel a very noticeable difference as well as a huge difference in road noise - ah the things that we do for vanity.

I hear you Magic.
I was primarily refering to the rusted out cutlas with the 20 inch spinners on them. I have 19 inch rims on my 996 turbo that not only look georgious but lower unsprung weight dramatically. I do not know if I would have bought them aftermarket as they came with the car.

My new and very expensive DVD player isn't yet in, but I just bought "The Last Samurai". I do a comparison between my old Toshiba and the new Rotel on a kick-ass rest of the system. It'll be a good death.
I hate liberals, by the way.

You don't say Republicanman
I hear you. I hope you enjoy your new Rotel. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Ditto, enjoy your new system. Sorry to have ruined your original post with my excess back and forth ranting with n. absentia.

What are 'Touttles'?

I may have mispelled their last name. I am refering to the guys from Orange County Choppers in your picture under your moniker

Oh I see...it's Paul Teutel..Jr. and Sr.

Picked up the Rotel today and just hooked it up. Put in "The Last Samurai" and the video is significantly improved on my old Toshiba big screen. It'd probably be insane on a HDTV, plasma or other newer type of TV. The audio is crisp and crystal clear. I couldn't really audition it because everyone's asleep, but my guess is that it'll be even better at higher volumes.
Putting a CD in is where it really shined big-time. The sound was better than I thought that I could get from these speakers (B&W DM6's [S2]). Looking forward to cranking it way up when no one else is home.
To summarize: I don't have anything to compare it to except for my 5 year old Toshiba, but I'm glad that I went overboard. The sound is very clean and warm and worth every penny. Other much less expensive players are probably great as well, but I'm still glad that I bought it.

I'm glad you like your unit. This is kind of off topic, but I have a couple friends who loved that movie, and some other friends who thought it was a pile of junk. No in betweeners. What did you think of it? I've never watched it.
-
I really liked it a lot and am surprised by the great performance by Tom Cruise in that role. It was very historically accurate and really captured the Samurai of that time period. With two small children I had to watch it in about 6 parts and was often distracted, but I look forward to viewing it without having to get snacks or change diapers.
A very, very good movie. There's nothing like "a good death".

Never cheap out on your hardware son, it gives you the feeling of vulnerability when friends with a knack for high-end stuff come knocking at your door. Heck, you could buy a $79.00 DVDp at your local grocery store, whoopidoo!!! But you'll never come close to a $1000.00 DVDp in terms of audio/video performance. Trust me I have a $79.00 Panasonic S25 and a Arcam Diva DV 79A and the difference is big.Why people buy expensive products like these, it's just a mere statement that good taste indeed has it's place in society. Now if you live in a trailer park, Go Ahead and brag to Jimmy-Bob, Betty-Lou & Billy-Ray that you're a well endowed audiophile with a $79.00 DVDp. It's what they say "You get what you paid for". Ignorance is a bliss. :D :D :D :D :D

Actually, this has its place in the marketplace, from time to time. Unfortuantely in audio, it has no place, ZERO. :D
DVD players are consumables. Only the hype, bs, and voodoo marketeering that is driving this and most in audio.

Mtrycraft, do you trust the baseline DVD players that start at $30-$40 price range such as Orbitron, etc.?
1. They generally don't have displays(really inconvenient for audio use).
2. I just don't trust no-name products. I have not noticed 30-40 dollar range DVD players from major manufacturers. Reliability? Warranty claims?
If you spend twice that, stargint at about $80-$100 range you can get examples that have displays and have major companies with established service centers backing the warranties.(Pioneer, JVC, Panasonic, etc.).
I believe that with a $30 DVD player, you are taking risks. What do you think?

I don't ever plan to have my $69 Toshiba 3950 serviced. It is disposable. As for warranties, I'm not aware of any low end consumer stuff that has anything over a one year unless you buy the extra coverage.
I bought an $80 TV at BB a couple of years ago that came with a one year parts and labor / two year picture tube warranty. At about 15 months, the screen went out. I took it back to Buy and paid $20 for an "estimate". I couldn't believe the answer: $115 to repair. Apparently, it wasn't the tube, but some $15 part that failed yet required a fair amount of labor to install. It was the actual tech who called me to convey the estimate. I asked him if he realized how stupid that answer was. He confessed that he was concerned about his job with the economics of servicing cheap stuff the way it is. I pressed BB to credit my $20 towards buying another $80 TV instead!
