Anyone with experience in using a dvd player as transport? can you please recommend me a decent dvd player for movies that is also good as a transport for a separate DAC.

Harman Kardon's single disk player, the DVD22, is slick looking and gets great reviews. If you want a more traditional look, try the Marantz DV4600. I believe HK was in the DVD-A camp, so the DVD22 won't play SACD's. If you want to play everything you really can't beat the Marantz DV6500, an excellent choice that is still affordable.
