    Monster PowerCenter HTS400

I must say that I'm not one for thinking cables make that big of a difference, etc. A local salesman talked me into buying the above when I purchased my TV and I must say that it really does help clean up the sound. I used to hear a barely audible hiss from my AVR, now that hiss is gone. So they must do something besides providing surge protection.

That has been my experience as well. I use an HTS1000 conditioner with my turntable and likewise get zero hiss with my low output cartridge even at full gain.
