Question on a toslink cable?

I purchased this cable and I'm not sure if the flexible plastic tip is removable? It won't fit orther wise or do I need a mini cable? Thanks

I think you are talking about the protective cap over the ends of the toslink cable. Yes, you need to remove them. The toslink connector on the cable is a male connector and you should see a half round translucent dome at the very end.
