    Subwoofer amp

Any recommendations for subwoofer amps? I am doing a DIY sub, I am settled on a driver from Parts Express, but was wondering if there was anywhere else I should be looking for an amp. I was thinking somewhere in the 200Watt range ($130 range at for parts express amps) as I have a pretty small area, and bass isnt top priority with the neighbors I have. Any help would be appreciated.

What driver did you buy from PE? That will help in the determination.

I would try this one out.

Since you will not be playing it loud this should be plenty of juice. It has good sensitivity a 1meter/1watt of 91.5db and that's loud. This will give you 70watts into 4ohms which is more than enough I think.

I picked up an NHT MA-1 sub amplifier off ebay for $89. It has a crossover and seems to be pretty good. I originally had it driving a JL 12W1 8ohm (12") woofer in a large sealed enclosure(Q Logic), but recently I switched to a JL 10W0 8ohm (10") woofer in a 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure I got at a local car audio shop for $40. Threw some polyfill inside, lined the speaker with some clear sealant and mounted it. Sounds pretty good, and the 100watts the NHT amp is supposedly capable of seems to be more than enough. Plus it is at least 25% smaller, which helps in the room it is located in.

keep in mind this is for my lower quality, abuse system.

Oh and JL Audio is a car speaker company(originally just subwoofers, but then they moved to components and recently amplifiers).

Yeah pick that one. It's better than the 250 watter and can do 4 ohms easier.
