    Still considering

I'm still considering a cartridge change, if anyone on the forum has any experience with the Denon DL103-DL103r or DL304 I would be interested to know if these would be compatible with my arm weight, and the MC input on my preamp. Or would I have to use a phono preamp.

I've not used Denon carts before but there should be no reason you'd have to get an outboard phono stage unless you just wanted to upgrade your sound quality. Also, you adjust the counter weight to balance the arm so weight of your cart shouldn't be a problem either. It does seem some carts fit certain arms better and track better with them as well.

I was pretty satisfied with DL-301mk2. It should match just fine with your RB300. It sounds fairly transparent with a touch of warmth.

You may just be able to get away with Dl-103, but if you are going with the DL-304, make sure your pre amp and its phono pre offers plenty of gain. Preferably 65dB+ of gain from pre amp and its phono stage.
