    preamp hookup question

Hello everyone.....if you were to take a vintage preamp......send rca connectors to one amp via the preamp's standard output......and a second rca connection to a second amp via the TAPE OUT on the preamp...can you run both amps at the same time...in other words....will the tape out send a signal all of the time......thus avoiding the need for "Y'ING" rca's from the standard output to the two amps?

Did that make any sense to anyone?? Thanks for any replys.

I thought the tape output was looking for a much different impedance than the main.

I don't know...thats why I came here.....to listen to the experts tell me if I am all messed up on this idea!! I thought I read somewhere that a tape output was a very clean continuous signal...since it's main purpose was for recording.......

How would you control the volume of the amp that's on the Tape Out? Seems like you'd need an external attenuator.
